    hey guys,

I wanted to see if it was at all possible to install new speakers, and a new sub to the stock HU. I don't really want to replace the HU in my 2012 access cab. I like the stock look. Anyways let me know what you guys think.

I did it...so should you. Look into the audio control lc6i unit...does what you need.

You can do it look for a line out converter such as a JL Cleansweep.

I am VERY new to car audio. I have installed a few HU's and speakers but never ran amps or subs. For my purpose what time of amp wattage should i be looking to push?

Yup got a 5 channel for the door speakers and the two 10" JL's. She sounds purty.
85w to each door speaker...400w to the subs.

Google house of hard knocks in thousand oaks, ca. Ask for Jamie(owner). They just did my setup and they'll take care of you.

I am constantly amazed at these forums and the knowledge you guys have. Ok.. time to send this thread in a spiral down hill. I'm gonna ask a question about brands and pricing... how the hell am i supposed to pick a speaker amp or sub. there are so many and so many brands and price ranges. ANY advice for a noobie?

Also anyone got pics of amp locations/setups?

You can't go wrong with any Kicker, Alpine, Polk Audio, or Rockford Fosgate speakers. For amp's I love Kenwood's they have great power for decent prices or JL Audio. You just look on Crutchfield click customer favorite and find one that fits your needs/wants. Also if you don't want to amp your speakers you need to look for a speaker that has a high sensitivity.

Looking at this on crutchfield. I see how your after market speakers/subs/amp come in. But what attaches to the interface etc of the stock HU?

Focal v30 front..focal pc165 rear...JL stealthbox...arc audio amp...audio control lc6i. The head unit goes to the audio control which sends digital signal to the amp. All the output is adjusted from the audio control. Sounds amazing.
Amp and audio control are behind the rear seat(driver side)...stealthbox behind rear passenger side.

You are not the first asking about stereo setups. Beyond the fact that you will need some sort of line out converter or processor to keep the stock head unit, everything else will be the same as the other installs on here. Go look through the threads on installs to get an idea of budgets that others have, and what products they used.

Forgive my ignorance... so do you lose control of volume at the stock head unit? and do you have to cut the wiring harness off to wire up to the LC?

nope...when you tune your stereo after install (i have all of the settings at 0 on HU) you will adjust the power to each set of speakers from the audio control. HU still works the same...volume...steering wheel controls...after a "breakin" period for your speakers...about 20 hours or so, you should re-tune.

Where did you mount your LC and Amp? Both under the same seat?
