Adding OEM fender flares

I have a 2008 SR5 without flares. I was wondering if anyone has taken OEM's from another truck and put them on a non-flared Taco. I noticed that the Tacos with OEM flares, once removed, have what appears to be rectangular holes at the outer edge of where the flares used to be. Yet I have watched a few videos of aftermarket flares being install and in some cases there are no existing holes and the flares look good. I was hoping to get some off of a totaled Taco. I plan on having the flares painted white prior to installation. Thanks for any insight.
