Adding OEM Subwoofer to Non-JBL

has anyone added the Toyota OEM subwoofer to their Non-JBL system? It seems like it could be a logical choice if the price is right. How easy is it?
Is the truck already pre wired for it? Anyone happen to know what all would be entailed, part numbers, price, etc???

I am planning on pulling the trigger real soon and purchasing a 2016 TRD Sport. I can't decide if I should order the JBL or order the base radio and upgrade to the OEM Audio Plus Reference 450Q system. Has anyone had the opportunity to listen to both systems side by side and can provide information or an opinion?

 

You couldn't splice it in like any other sub?

 

My brother just got his 2016 TRD Sport (an upgrade from his 2010 Sport) but he didn't know you have to add in the JBL audio as an option because it doesn't come with that package. He hated to stock system and wanted it to sound like his old truck and even after upgrading all of the speakers, installing a sub and amp it is just not the same. Although it sounds nice, the JBL just has a different sound to it altogether.

 

I liked the JBL system in my 2011, didn't realize how much better it is compared to the base system in my 2015. I HATE my stereo system in my 2015. It sounds like garbage. Contemplating whether I want to spend big bucks for a super nice system, or go with something like posted above and just wire it up myself.

 

Thanks for the OEMaudioplus link. Looks nice. Didn't want to spend that much, but probably will. I hope I can find an installer. No interest in doing it myself. I hope they don't screw up the plastic panels when removing them.

I couldn't get the JBL system because the knuckleheads at Toyota chose not to let us have it if we bought the manual transmission. Go figure. I have all the other goodies.......

 

Any feedback on this system? I love the integration...

 

This upgrade sounds like the way to go.... I looked through the specs but couldn't find what the power outage would be after the install.

 

360 Watts RMS (Continuous / @ 2-ohms) according to their website.

I have spoken with their customer support a few times, they seem pretty good to deal with and are helpful on answering questions.

My dealer indicated if I went this direction and something happened to the HU it would void the warranty, that is my big concern

That's why you don't say anything and remove it before taken it in for repair. Never know its there unless you tell them

Meh, I'm focusing more on performance and suspension above all else. As I said, the JBL was great for me. That oem replacement one posted above looks good to me if its like the JBL system. I need to hit up Mr. Marv and see what he can do for me, since hes semi local

 

Yeah If you do go with hybrid audio I got them from Marv and he's currently building me a box for 2 10" image dynamic
He really knows his shit and he's a really good guy

 

Yea I shot him a PM already, he told me give him a call whenever to discuss. I was looking in to the Hybrid audio performance series I think. Whatever one was like a step or two above OEM. And then probably a dual 10" sub box in the back as well

 

I did stage 3 in the front and stage 2 in the back. Expensive but you get what you pay for
