Yeah if they fix the readability issue I would buy this in a heartbeat - seems like the easiest solution w/o having to replace your mirror.

Or I have a Wolfbox mirror so I’ve lost the temp. :(

Which reminds me I need to go post my mirror for sale.

Iit’s actually really good unless the sun is shining directly on it. I’m super happy with it, probably one of my favorite interior adid-ons. Only thing I’d say is, where you place the sensor probes matters to the temp accuracy. I have the external sensor wired to probe behind the grill, the interior sensor is under the lower dash near the steering column.

Hmm - maybe I'll get this route then. Seemed like the best solution tbh. How are you powering it?

I cannot for the life of me seem to find anything that size that's also wireless.

I hard wired it from keyed power behind the dash.

I was thinking of removing the dash light rheostat and mounting it up higher but I have it down low so I can see it through the steering wheel.

here’s a morning pic. The blue looks blurry but it’s actually really bright.

I ended up ordering the one that fits in the dash slot now that @DailyTacoMD shared his pics - I was just unsure about the quality of the unit.

Any reason to not use a fuse tap to power this?

Fuse tap should be fine; I doubt this thing draws very much power.

Anyone mount theirs near the A-track button/under the HVAC controls?

You probably could do that, there’s PLENTY of wire length for the sensors. It would be easier to read in that location too instead of peeking through the steering wheel spokes. I would like to add that lower panel to have more switch locations but I have a base model without options…

Purchased and installed my auto-dim mirror w/compass and outside temp display from Bob's. It has been running flawlessly for three+ years. Well worth every penny it cost. It even had a surprise (undocumented afaik) "Ice Warning" in the display that comes on at +- 34 degrees. Running and routing the temp sensor wiring through the firewall and out to the grille was a little pesty, but it was a fun project.

Installed mine today - looks pretty good, although the sensor seems a few degrees off from what my home weather station says. I suppose location of the probe matters, but I did wire it right next to where the factory one is.

Did you have a hard time pushing the button into the dash? Mine was a suuuuper tight fit.

Did you mount yours to the same position?

Mine is in the lower bank of switches, but it's hard to see there behind the steering wheel. I will likely move it to where you installed it.

PS the fuse tap worked like a charm. Plugged into the 7.5a ACC fuse. Top row, fourth from the left.

My view through the steering wheel spokes in the lower position. It’s not that dim in person

    IMG_0517.jpg

I was thinking of replacing the dash light rheostat with the temp gauge so it’s up higher

I have room on my upper bank of switches so I'll probably move mine there. It's nice to have the temp gauge, but I can't see it when I'm driving straight unless I sit up and look over the steering wheel. Not a giant inconvenience by any means, but if I have the option to move it up, I mays well set it up so it works for me.

Is the rheostat the same size button?
