Ya know what, I'm torn between flares or no flares! I wouldn't mind having some extra coverage, as my tires stick out roughly 3 inches from the sides of my truck. I'm not a huge fan of "fix-it" tickets, and would like to be as legal as possible.

I'm probably going to end up waiting until college winter break to address the brush guard. I have a friend who is extremely skilled in welding who is attending college in san luis obispo, ca. I've already mentioned the idea of fabricating a guard/bull bars/light mounts, and he's all for it. I just need to get him back in the area!

Great! I was waiting for someone to mention something about fit and year of the truck.

I'm also looking for some flares...but as far as functionality and looks, I'm not sure they're worth what they go for.

I also have 32's on my truck, and when I'm going through water, my mud terrains spray it all over my windshield making it pretty hard to see.

If I could find a set for $70 i'd totally go for them.

The "flares" that came with the truck (they only stuck out half an inch) were held on by plastic clips hooked to metal brackets that ALL broke off them I took them off to paint, so yeah finding some OEM's with good mounts would be hard, but you could always epoxy the plastic onto the flares, since they can be unscrewed to be removed anyways, so I don't reallly see the point in clips :notsure:

I see what you mean. Fortunately, I was raised on a farm, and have quite a bit of various mechanic skills under the belt.

I also have a buddy who owns/runs a hot rod restoration shop very close by. I brought the truck by his place when I first purchased it, and did a few minor mods to her.

    1. Rubbed clear silicone into the rubber seals around the doors/windows, and into the weathered "greying" plastic around the bumpers (restores plastic back to the original black! but causes the attraction of dirt/dust).

    2. Wet Sanded/Polished/Buffed out yellowed headlights back to origanal (close) clearness and brightness.

I'm planning on replacing the current tires with the same as you're getting.

I'm leaning away from the store-bought Brush Guards that are available. I think I'll fabricate (with the help of a friend) a small Bull Bar or Light Bar combination, and have it powdercoated the same color as my wheels.

There's the reason why I might not go OEM...they only stick out 3/4-1inch from the sides.

Epoxy is my friend...good call on that one.

I forgot to mention that the wheels were originally polished aluminum. They had been neglected, and looked pretty bad when I purchased them. I brought them to a local shop, and they sandblasted and powdercoated all 4 wheels and lug nuts for just over $200.
