It gives a marked improvement in handling. I'm starting to see them on some newer trucks and BOF SUV's.

Awesome, thanks for the quick update, I'm guessing you currently have it on the Softest setting as the instructions suggest?

I dunno. OME suspension. My truck was a fucking go-kart in the corners. Go-fucking-kart. No lean at all. Zero. ST Maxx tires might well have been performance tires on a freaking sports car. I could corner hard.

Took the front sway bar off. Now I get some body roll. Truck feels a shit load better though on shitty roads!

With Dakar Leaf pack in my rear end I can't imagine how miserable I'd be with a rear sway bar!!

    Bumping this one up.

I am looking to install a rear sway bar to help with highway driving, and other sway issues that are induced from these lovely Ohio back roads.

Anyone that has added the rear only on a stock Tacoma provide more feedback? Issues I am seeing are sway on windy days on the highway, or when an semi blows by me going 75+ on route 80.

wind from the semi will still push the truck, but no body roll involved. The sway reduces body roll during cornering/curves. Super cool, feels like you are sticking to the road.
Great for highway miles, but may reduce suspension flexibility off road.

This. Just overall better handling. Less understeer in tight turns too. I've had one on my 07 offroad, 11 sport, and now my 16 sport. The Hellwig is what I have. It does feel more balanced on the sport model.

if the wind it grabbing on your bed and pushing you around, then maybe a tonneau can help with that. it did with mine. the sway bar helps like these guys are saying for sure, but if the wind effect can be lessened a bit directly.

How easy is it to disconnect the rear sway bar? I’m thinking that if I remove the front and add the rear I will have some stability but would be able to disconnect for off-roading. The front requires full removal to avoid CV boot damage and takes too much time.

I wouldn't run a rear sway bar if you off road at all. They typically aren't easy to get at and the benefits aren't as huge as the front.

I like them on Tundras but I wouldn't run them on the Tacoma simply due to its nature.

Whats the point of adding a rear sway bar? You kill your articulation, you make the rear end ride twice as stiff, and creates more oversteer which in a pickup truck can quicly land you facing the opposite direction.

Youre much better off just getting stiffer struts.

I’m thinking of getting the sway bar to help with towing my camper.... was going to sell the Tacoma and get a half ton.... but just really don’t want to!!! Thinking maybe sway bar and new leafs or air bags instead.... anybody used the sway bar towing travel trailers? Mines a 19’ 3700#

I’ve got load e tires and good sway control but the trucks soft suspension just Floyd around a little to much.... the motor has to be revved up on hills but being manual trans it pulls good... just a little sketchy at high speeds wanting to stiffen up a bit!

I don't have the sway bar, but I just switched from the chain type WDH to a four point Equal-i-zer and that has helped. I am towing a 25' 4700#. I haven't had a chance to use it much, yet, though. If I am still unhappy, I will probably add the air bags. My Tacoma is only a year old, so I am not selling it. It tows fine, but I was getting some sway in higher winds (on the coastal mountain passes) and when I get passed by a big rig. A little porpoising on bad roads. It never felt dangerous, though.

I already have a 4 point WDH and Ride-Rite airbags. I may consider the Hellwig rear sway bar for towing and So Cal freeway driving on my 2016 Sport Long Bed. I do some light off-roading so I would need to be sure it comes off easily for those trips. I pull a 2012 Airstream 23 foot Front Bed (hitch weight is lowest of ll 23 footers). I'll likely add the onboard compressor first so I can adjust the airbags on the fly. I don't have too much trouble with side winds or semis passing. The Airstream is streamlined front to back and side by side with the rounded corners, so it tows very well. I've towed with 50mph side winds and the 250 on the front and had very little trouble.
