Im adding a overhead console to my truck which didnt come with one. I have the bracket and will attach it in the front. But what I need is to know what type of adheaseve to use on the back part that is "glued" the the roof of the truck. Any ideas?

 

Not sure what kind of console your talking about, but on my 06 that came with one it slots into the headliner in the back and has two clips that snap in in the front with a single screw in the sunglass compartment holding it tight.

Remember if you glue it in then you won't be able remove it if you have to without doing damage.

 

Yea, not to clear on second read. It is the roof bracket that I am attaching. The overhead console is the part with the map lights, sunglass holder, and garage door opener. Its the metal bracket that I am mountaining.

 

OK gotcha, are you sure that bracket is not already there? if not I would suggest stopping at a body shop and see if they would install it as they would have the proper panel adhesive for that.
And they will probably do it for what it would cost you to get the right adhesive.

 

I have had the headliner off twice now, once to hook up back-up camera mirror and second to check for location of bracket. This will be a home butcher job for sure. But thanks for the body shop idea.

 

I wouldn't overthink it.

Anything that says it bonds to painted metal surfaces is sufficient.

Yea, wont overthink it too much, taking the truck for the leaf spring recall tomarrow so Ill ask them while Im there.
