I remember when I first got those icons they seemed like serious shocks. Compared to the new one (which isn't extreme) they look like steering stabilizers.:rofl:

One bracket down three to go! Only one hole lined up so that was a plus!

How much fun were the shackle rivets?

Thank goodness I had a plan to remove two rivets a day for a week. So I've only got a few left I could t reach with the springs on. But yeah. With the bed on (which mine is) its one of the worst things I've done in my life of modding cars.

Did you try cutting the heads off and drilling the rest out? I'm not looking forward to it when I do a shackle flip

Oh yeah I've got it down pretty much now.

    • Cut off rivet head making sure it's smooth.
    • Use a pointed chisel to make a drill mark and pray a miracle happens and the rivet comes out. Which it won't.
    • Drill all the way through with a smallish bit. I use 3/16
    • Then drill again with a bigger one less than 3/8"
    • Hammer for a few hours and I'll pop right out (not really just a few and they come out)

Pro tip on those rivets going up from the underside. They are welded on the top. Make sure you cut those welds or you'll be hammering for the rest of your lift

Pro tip 2 on those same rivets. They also hold on the spare tire thing. Clamp the spare tire bracket to the frame. Otherwise you'll just pop out the frame part and leave the spare tire part in. This makes it a lot harder.

That's it. You only have 8 and they are the easiest 8 to get to. :)

Oh pro tip 3. Make a drill press using you drill and jack. In my case it's too high and I don't have anything laying around so I use my jack, truck jack, and drill! Makes for effortless drilling.

This is quite the shackle. I'm going to have to trim my bed a little!

Both. It's a bed cage from Giant. You just call up and order it (I had to give him a few measurements though).
