She is doing a lot better today. Yesterday she was starting to run around with the other dogs but still retreated to a corner when ever anything spooked her (which is very easy to do. Just the sound of the ice dropping in the ice machine scares her). Today she is letting me walk up to her and not cower and curl into a ball in her corner. I am having trouble getting her to come back inside though when she is out in the back yard (fenced in yard). Had to go search for her back in the woods last night and found her back in a corner. I am beginning to see that the shelter did not do anything with her except feed her. I may as well have taken in a dog straight off the streets (just in better health condition)

Every day though we seem to make a little progress.

Keep in mind that the dog has to adopt you and not the reverse as we believe. As many have said here, it will take time. Maybe a day, a month or more. The introduction of another dog like you have done will ease her fears sooner. Let her be and she'll come to you when she accepts you.

that is a good looking dog!! good luck.

sit down next to her, with your back to her..watch TV..ignore her. she will come around. my brother adopted a shepard with the same fears. it took time. i still havent petted that dog. his terms, not mine.

    be patient. keep us posted!!
