I'm right there with you. I have a 3rd gen, with steel bumper, winch, sliders and aluminum IFS skid on 700# springs. I don't get the "cloud" feeling either. They ride nice, but compared to my previous TRD Pro suspension, they're not a huge difference.

I feel like I get a lot more front end "bounce" than I expected. I'm going on about 1000 miles from install, so I'm still hoping it'll "break in" a bit more.

Please post pics when you get this done, may want to try it myself. My resis keep pushing forward into the rad support as well, and the hoses have been bent/twisted for so long they are cracking and seeping oil. I'm replacing them soon but am interested in alternative mounting options

I thought long and hard about getting the clickers, but thought I would never really use them to the best ability. Also, the price point deterred me where as going from non resi to resi was a no brainer for me given the price difference.

I’m glad I’m not alone then. I purchased ADS for the quality and mainly for the terrible roads I travel for work, trying to obtain a much better ride quality than what I got with my worn out OME set up. Right now, I haven’t had a drastic improvement in the ride. Preload is pretty much at what ADS sent them at. I can’t blame it all on the coilovers, I know a E rated tire on a first gen can’t be expected to ride THAT great, but I had hopes of it being better than what it is.

A bouncy ride up and down (not jolting) is too soft of valving. Most aftermarket coilovers and shocks are going to be stiffer than stock

Took about 2000miles for mine to really break in

Yeah I really wanted to do clickers for the rear so I could adjust as the weight in the bed changed. That price point was just a bit too much for me. Ugh. They'd be so incredibly nice though! I suppose it's a motivator to learn to break these bad boys down and be able to revalve them readily. Gotta look more into this.

It's funny, when I was looking at Kings, everyone in those threads, said "don't bother with adjusters, because you'll never adjust them once their set"... I tended to agree with that philosophy, but now question that choice.

Can they be added to a set later on? Obviously not on my rears, as they're piggybacking.

I asked them about that before ordering and they said sure, if you want to buy a new hose and entire reservoir :( now that was an expensive option.

Well, I decided to go king since they had a better mounting option for KDSS equipped 4runners. Thanks for all of your advice.

Don’t worry about how they look. Those tires will perform fine dude. Don’t get the 33” BS “for looks” addiction. Function over form my friend. Looks fine.

I just read this entire thread beginning to end over 4 days. Alot of good info on here. The guys running ads in the pnw seattle tacoma area, dont be shy with giving out updates on your experiences with this. Plus I might be looking out to see if I can get a in person view of those sweet set up

Buddy of mine had those on his Icons, pulled them off to do some work and they were packed with mud. They will trap anything that splashes up and then become and abrasive and start to chew away at the coating on your coils.

Kind of suspected that would be an issue.

So... I think I may have gotten too stiff of springs, but in fairness, I only have 1k miles on them right now.

    My setup is the following:
    • 2017 TRD OR
    • SSO Slimline (Steel)
    • M8000 Warn Winch with synthetic line
    • TRD Pro Aluminum skid plate
    • BAMF bolt-on rock sliders

    • ADS 2.5 Remote Resi Ext w/ 700 lb coils - front
    • ADS 2.5 piggyback resi 0"-2" w/ icon AAL (no overload) - rear

My experience thus far has been that the ride is "stiff", but the notable factor is a lot of "hop" or "bounce". The bouncing settles right away, but it just seems like every bump or wow, has a dramatic effect on the ride. It feels like the fronts are the controlling factor.

Based on the weight, do you think I'm running too heavy of spring rates? What would be a good way to test this, without ordering and installing 650 lb springs? Can I strap weights to the front bumper to simulate the proper weight/spring rate? How much weight would be recommended?

Or should I just wait another 1k miles for them to be "fully" broken in? Maybe take them offroad and beat on them a bit... just don't want to shake/bounce my truck apart in the process.

You have exactly what I have (slightly different bumper). They are not too stiff, you just need more miles. Keep in mind, nothing will feel like the stock suspension. Give it at least 2000 miles to settle. The stock springs on the OR are 700lb and they weren't stiff right? That's because of valving.
Let em break in, you won't be happy with the 650# because after it settles you will be back to nose dives

Awesome! That's what I figured and was hoping to hear.

I know it's not going to ride like stock (don't want it to)... just don't need my wife tossing her cookies while cruising down the highway.

    Thanks!

For highway driving put it at 4-5 clicks up from full soft for a bit, see how that treats you. Do you have new UCAs?

I'm poor... no clickers for me! :D

And yes, I have new Icon uniballs.
