Don't mind you asking....had to read back when I last updated, so since then....
He got all his warrants taken care of, completed his parol sentence and was living with his girlfriend up until about 3 weeks ago. He wasn't working, she got tired of supporting him and he was back to doing drugs and stealing things, likely he was breaking into houses again, so basically she told him he had to go...

He asked his Dad if he could stay with us a couple times, but his Dad always said no and told him he would buy him a plane ticket to go live with his Mother. So the kid got on a plane to go live with his Mom, who he hasn't seen in 7 yrs. He went with 1 suitcase of clothes and $80 to his name, we went from living in the big city to living in the country out in the sticks, he's never been any place like that before. Within a week he was crying to come back here, but his Dad said he wouldn't pay for it and he isn't welcome to come live with us if he did get back here. A week after that he called to say he liked it there now that he's met some people and can now get pot and has been getting high. The Mom, well won't go there...just that she isn't going to be a positive influence on the kid. Anyway, Dad says neither of them will ever be able to pay for the kid to fly back here and he won't pay for it, so the kid is stuck there and Mom will have to deal with whatever comes up now.
    The kid turned 21 yesterday...

Sadly, things like this might not ever turn out well and will always be a mental burden on those who have tried to provide a positive direction for a better future. Past a certain point your own futures become the prority when all else has proven to be futile. Tough stuff for a parent/step parent to be in. Here's hoping it'll somehow work out in a good way tho...........

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I had a buddy that had that option when he was younger. He choose the Navy and never regrets looking back at his decision.

He wanted to join the military when he was in HS, but he couldn't pass the ASVAB or the drug test...or any of the other tests or requirements...
They gave him a 1st offender, 6 month jail-bootcamp program which if he passed would make it a misdemeanor, but he got kicked out after a couple weeks and now is a felon. Cost his Dad $3000(I think it was, maybe $5k) for attorney fees for the kid to screw it up in less than a month.
