So I we’ve been trying to find my specific truck since December. I was able to secure outside of my state fully loaded minus the advance tech, mine just had the regular tech package. I did find the fully loaded same color as my truck I put deposit on in a different state. Every option is the same and they’re actually being produced on the same day as well. So neither are built yet. The dealer with advance tech matched the adjusted market value of the one I put deposit on I would go for it but I lose my $500 deposit as well as have to play $600 more for difference in packages, So basically paying 1100 more to have every option I want which is all of them lol. First new truck since 2005 so I am being extra picky. I drive a lot for work so plan to put many miles on the truck as well as take it on lots of off-road camping trips. I plan to mod the truck with lift, tires and camper top and thats about it minus little things. I’ve tried to get them to trade trucks and they wont do it. Question is, is it really worth it? I really wanted a fully loaded truck and this is the only option missing. I know its not the best cameras and that I can add the front trail cam later but should I just bite the bullet to get it now instead of adding just the front camera later? What do y’all think that have the advance tech? Do you like the 360 view that much its worth going for? I’m leaning towards adding the front camera later and keeping my deposit with the first truck. I’m assuming they’ll both be at dealer around same time since being built the same day.

    Oh look, another mod....

The Advance Tech is great if you're going to go off road. It has a front facing and surround view camera.

Just add the front camera. That's what i am doing. I have blind spot monitors , rear parking sensor and LED lights on mine but not sure what package that was. The Taco's tech offerings are kinda lame even when specd out. I used to hate all the tech but as I have gotten older I find them helpful. My reflexes and brain just aint what they used to be! You dealer sounds lame....

    I'd add a camera later.
Plus as you add more off road aftermarket parts the less likely it is the factory gadgets will work as designed.

I had a similar conundrum but ended up buying a low milage 2nd gen. No camera up front up that's what bumpers are for haha

Are you sure they won't refund your deposit? Or at least turn it to credit for parts like bed mat and power tailgate lock? Most of the time a deposit in car sales just gets you the first crack signing a contract to buy it, and in a lot of places it would be illegal to not refund the deposit on a car deal where either party pulls out.

With that said, you should get what will make you happy. I skipped the advanced tech on my 2020, but got everything else. I have no regrets about it, but it wasn't a feature I was interested in. Like it was said in a previous post, you can get a better front camera added later, as an accessory if you decide you want it later.

@piratepegleg, speaking strictly for myself, I think the Advanced Technology Package is worth it; the spec for the Taco I put a deposit on last week has it included, and I will be rejecting the option for an otherwise identical vehicle without the package.

    None yet.....
I'm in the "add a front camera later" group because I wanted an M/T without the premium package but with the Advanced Tech package. It took an already hard truck to find and made it to where I'd probably never find it. If it were easier to find the way I'd like it, I'd get the Advanced Tech and be done with it.

I have the Advanced Tech, and to be honest, it's not worth it in my opinion. The Front camera is useful, and totally worth adding, and if I could do it again, I would have opted for the regular tech package (or none at all) and added a front camera. The 360 view is distracting, at best, and if you decide to go for the Heritage Grill (like I did) your 360 stitched view is off due to the difference in mounting heights. You won't regret not having it. Ironically, my truck I reserved initially had all the options I wanted, and the regular Tech Package. The dealer managed to get it changed to an identical truck with the Advanced Tech. Still happy with the truck, but I think I would have been equally happy with the regular tech package.

I have had a truck with every conceivable option.
    I hated it.
I now have a TRD 4wd Off Road base model.
    I love it.
    No sunroof.
    Basic TSS features.
    Base head unit.
    Backup cam only.

It has cruise, tilt, air, heated seats, power steering and power windows. Automatic with remote start.

    Perfect truck.

man thanks for this!! That’s what I was thinking, with the lift and grill change I wanna make I think added a front camera after would be enough to make me happy. Only difference in the two packages I chose is the trail cam. I got the colored matched bumpers and heated mirrors/seats. Pretty sure I’m buggin the duck out of my dealer asking to add options and change stuff. I should just be happy I found a LR premium offroad with everything I want.

I am ordering a 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-road and am trying to decide if I should get the tech package or the advanced technology package. Definitely want leather though. If I get the Advanced technology package with the Multi-terrain-monitor (front and mirror cameras) will I be able to upgrade my grill to the PRO grill with no issues? Thanks!

The TRD Off Road MTM will work with the PRO grill, but note on the OEM pro grill the camera mount location is higher so the 360 view will be a little distorted. On aftermarket Pro grills, mounting the front camera is a choose your own adventure situation, so your 360 view results will depend on how you set it up. I bought the OEM Pro grille, and you'll need to cut your camera bracket to fit or buy a replacement (Westcott designs has one, which is the route I went).

You can adjust the stitching alignment of the cameras is the service menu of the head unit. Not sure if there is enough adjust for a grille change though.

You can always add the anytime backup camera for a front camera, that's what I did and it works great.
