I stumbled on a thread the other day in regards to the different rears in 2nd gens. Of course, I can't find it now!

Talks about the letters and numbers on the label at the rear of the pumpkin. According to that thread, I would have a LS rear. But I don't know about all that.

Looking forward to this one pretty big. AOP last year was the beginning of the thought of this truck.

I actually have a new seal I bought a few years ago to fix that. Too much work to fix a 1 drip a week leak. Haha

Yeah open diffs on wooded trails are ok. Open diffs on rocks are a disaster. There's only so much driver mod before you have to say "I don't have the right equipment for the job".

I'm out on this, 95% certain. Clutch won't be in until next weekend at best, still trying to nail down a place to resurface the flywheel. Won't have locker by then and I WILL want to do the fun and challenging shit. My alignment is still needing a proper assessment and I fear parts may be needed. TBD. Waiting on the mid skid as well.

Also, 6hr + drive with higher potential of damage.

:pout: I know. Don't think I ever committed. Will definitely be making a trip there some time, though.

I got a little too caught up to respond to this today. Talking to you, oddly enough. o_O;):D

I get and see why you'd say this. If any took or take offense to my commentary, I do apologize. Never been my intention. Where the whole "For anyone who doesn't know you..." thing comes into play. I appreciate you knowing me well enough to say "Hey DB, kinda DB-y, don't ya think?"

I've said it a 100x's. And I'll repeat to anyone who listens. This is HANDS DOWN the flat out best group to ever wheel with. It's an incredible group of folks who come together for a damn good time!

On the serious side, last year when I got the green truck, you were like "DUDE! WTF is up?!?!" and there was then this impromptu LBL trip, in the middle of summer. We've been hanging out and been through a lot together. You are the only reason me and my 5 lug ever made it back onto a road from Black Mountain. And call me massively naïve, but up until then (Summer LBL '17) even , I didn't think me and my little 5 lug were much more than some goon with a built 5 lug hanging out with the real 4x4s. I’ve forgot that a year (and a half?) passed and I missed out on a lot of awesome trips and getting to meet and BS with folks who I haven’t gotten to know, and haven’t gotten to know me, until I got the green truck.

I can't wait for this trip. I can't wait to see and wheel with you (and everyone else) once again!!! :headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang:

If you can come, come fella! Don't let that stuff hold you up if you really wanna go. Even if you hopped in another truck all weekend, hell you can ride with me, I got 2 seats!!!! To get to AOP, I could even come your way and we could ride down together in a 2.7L convoy!!

With you living actually not...so far, you can always hit me up and come up my way and we can get some work done at my place too. The only thing I wouldn't have is a trans jack, but I want one anyway now since I got the 5 speed too and my own clutch will need replaced soon. It makes really strange noises, none of which I know are to good. Sounds like the throwout is chattering up quite the storm on the pressure plate fingers. Constantly. :anonymous::anonymous::lalala:

With your flywheel, do you know or have a feeling that it's bad? Or is just wanting to do the job the "proper" way? When I did my trans shop stint, I'll admit, we rarely pulled a flywheel to get resurfaced. We hit them with the whizz wheel and the little brown discs and called it a day! If it saves a step, a few $ and gets ya to AOP, might be worth going that route.

For the technical aspect of it, I usually and personally wouldn't typically recommend getting your flywheel completely resurfaced unless there was a true problem with it, and then, you might just be better off getting a new one. A flywheel is very similar to a brake rotor, the more mass it has, the better it performs, to a certain degree. When you resurface anything, flywheel, brakes, it's almost like paying someone to actually lessen your performance. Thicker metal dissipates and acts as a better heat sink than thin metal, obviously.

I usually try...anyways. :mudding:I wheeled an open diff 5 lug at Windrock. Nuffin' crazy, but still. I remember coming down one hill just absolutely standing on my brake pedal. I was sure I was going to go pummeling down, wreck my truck and die in a fire. :bananadead: But I didn't. :D. And now I know what coming down a hill in 4Lo/1st gear is like. It's a lot easier. And safer, lol.

It's what my brain tells me to do.

If there are no hot spots or anything worse, I'll clean it up with the abrasive stuff I have on hand and go for it.

Far as AOP, still up in the air. There is that 5% I will show up
