You can add Iron Chest and Grizzly lake to that list given where you guys ended.

One of these years we need to check out Blanca as well @Wishbone Runner

Guessing you guys would have seen the gatekeeper and turned around. :stirthepot: :p

It's no joke, and likes to eat your belly skid and driveshafts. I think it's the only obstacle I've dented my driveshaft on. Also bent the carrier bearing mount backwards a little.

For sure, I think were ready for it now. I definitely wanted my own winch and 35s, so go time. We could bag the peak too. And fiiiiiinally make it up Griz.

I've wanted to run blanca since I first saw it in 4 wheel drive and sport utility mag since 93. That's one that is top of my list.

I would of like them to integrate the steering stops, my caliper bolt already rubs on the coilover, but I do like the idea, I got the uniball uca gusset spindle an gusset coil buckets, the lca the last weak link even though I don’t think it’s that weak? But I think a lower uniball conversion would of been a must if you could make it work or at least a option, 1st gen had a recall on the lbj if I’m not mistaken?

You can run a uniball lower with Solo's conversion. However the only way to do that is to also get their fully fabbed spindle, which starts at $1600 for a set. You don't need them with the stock LCAs, Im not running them with mine just OEM LBJs

The stock LCAs are plenty strong for the most part. Nothing really wrong with them but the end stud can rip out.

LBJ on 1st gen in general suck. Its a shit design in that its constantly being pulled apart by just suspension movement. And the 4 small bolts holding it aren't a good connection either. It is the weakest link of the 1st gen really. There are other issues but none and bad as this flaw I think.

Steering stops would be nice and for fucks sake add a secondary shock mount. The fact that a stock LCA can easily accommodate secondary shocks with a simple kit from TC but these damn LCAs don't have a lower mount is shameful.

I would like the fab spindle but don’t want anymore track width, I want front an rear the same, had a truck with wider front didn’t like it, an not surprised the don’t want to do something that will work with another company, but at least offer your own 2nd shock hoop an option for 2nd shock tabs on lca

An with the price of just the lca or spindles I’d just buy a used chaos or burg kit for that price, an then just put a t100 an 62’s leafs with a lil bit more $

the spindle doesn't add width. Only on the lift spindles does it do that and you cant run those with 4wd.

They are expensive. Im still not sure if I love them or regret them. They did help a ton with my aligment and no rubbing. And Im very happy to get away from the stock bushing design. But I found poly bushings that fit the OEM LCAs now and going to try those on my DD. Will see.

Always a chance my LT kit will end up on Igor anyways so then I'll just sell or put them on the DD haha

Thanks, glad you enjoyed! Always fun getting out there - and just on the way back from another trip down to Death Valley now. Plus, one more trip between that I still need to get posted. :)

Yeah, can't wait to get back. Need to get to Antero before they maybe close the trails - that would suck.

And it should be in Igor, not Frank (not that we really have to worry - Frank requires a house first, and we all know that's not happening :stirthepot: :p) so that the rest of us want to go with you Monte.

Yeah, no thanks. My trucks years are numbered, but I want to try to make that number higher. Hahahahaha.

Nice to see you're finally coming around. I think I've only bee suggesting this since the De-Tour.

There's a winch anchor now. What'd you buy those fancy skids and winch for?

You'd be amazed how capable your rig is as it currently sits if you ever start to push it.

With that logic we shouldn't wheel our trucks at all.

Also, I think it's years of abuse and going fast(ish) causing these problems were seeing. Hitting a difficult obstacle I don't think is that hard on these trucks. Unless of course you have a one-time incident like denting a driveshaft etc.

Dan's going to run into the same issues we have whether he decides to use his truck for what he built it for or not. :p He's going fast enough and putting more offroad miles on than most, so it'll catch up to him.

Oh, I know my rig is super capable. Heck, I'm the guy who's always telling everyone who wants to know "Should I buy Kings with bypasses, or just go full LT before I wheel my truck?" that they should not upgrade their suspension at all, and should instead go wheel with it in stock form - because even stock, it's usually the driver who is the limiting factor.

For me, it's less about what it's ultimately capable of, and more about how to get the most fun out of it (fun for me). So, I like some technical, and even technical that pushes my comfort zone a bit, but the real enjoyment for me is getting out and seeing amazing things. It's not (for me) about conquering the hardest trails...that's not as fun because when I'm in that situation I feel like I'm "possibly wrecking" the tool that gets me to my version of fun (sooner than I would otherwise).

I mean, I may join that club anyway eventually, but I'm OK with it being longer down the road by being smart about where I take the truck. :)

    :lalala:

I agree with everything you said. Unfortunately. The thing I wonder is "when," since I'm putting in a lot more trips than most these days. Will be interesting to see how quickly that catches up to me.
