    I still want to understand why they were off by 3/4" in the first place. Neither of my Alcan packs fit like that on my truck.

    :confused: Do the Wheelers/Alcan set I had on my truck, the ones that you have now on igor, require a relocation plate to fit centered in the wheel well??

    Interesting. Must be a d-cab thing.

    There are only so many possible reasons. Either the front spring mount is placed differently or alcan is inconsistent. In this case, I can't see how it is possible to blame alcan for this one.

    ...but that's basically stock size, no? I was thinking maybe 285/75/16. I really wish that I could get my Duratracs in a 33x10.5 (or equiv) - I like that narrower profile, and those tires have been great for me, despite their reputation.

    Seriously though. You have 32s before the 33x10.5s which we also know run small...so..not entirely likely it hasn't been an issue for you. :notsure:

    I know of several guys on here running the relocation plates with extended cabs.

    Mentioning 35's is not allowed on my thread, thank-you-very-much. :censored:

    As I've driven the KM2's, they are clearly not well balanced - something Dan mentioned to me he was never able to achieve, even with balancing beads, which are in the tires now. Mike - have you had any issue balancing them? (@Digiratus)

    The balancing as well as the fact that KM2's run tall (33.4") in 255/85/R16, has me leaning more an more towards the ST MAXX's, which seem to run slightly small (32.8"). Will probably go check them out side by side in the new year and then make the call.

    i hate that. because my 255s are tall...but are the 255/80r17s. Why the hell can't people just be consistent!!

    Yeah, only down size is..well it's size haha just a rare size really. As you found in Canada. Is a great size though all things considered.

    I won't be running the 255s again. I'm going back to a wide tire. Likely 285/75r17s. Which are bigger than the 16s. Or 295s maybe. And probably going to the hankook ATM. Just a better road tire and Igor will be racking up the road miles in the next instance of life.

    yeah have lots of friends with them. My dad has been running them for a while now. Really nice tires. Last long and very quiet. Good in the snow and rain too.

    I will bet money that the xcabs you refer to were running dakars.

    And I think you are missing an immportant point. My tires are perfectly centered in the opening. This was with the very samme springs that are not centered on igor.

    I've had 3 sets of BFG M/Ts. All have always balanced nicely. I did find that as they wore, they would require regular re-balancing. Not an issue (other than taking the time to do it) if you purchase from Discount Tire as it is a free service.

    I think the 255/85r16's are the perfect size for our trucks - tall enough, narrow so they don't rub like crazy, not too terrible on the gas mileage, and you don't have to do much trimming for them to stuff nicely.
    That said, after two sets of the KM2's, I probably wouldn't go back to those. The ST Maxx look like a decent tire, I'd probably try those if I went with that size again.

    But unfortunately, once you go 35's, there's no going back.

    It's really too bad that Cooper opted not to build that size in the STT Pro. I would have gone that route without any hesitation. I agree that a 33x10 is the ideal size for a 1st gen.

    I am not convinced the ST Maxx is the right move for me. I've watched the tight, all-terrain treads struggle too much when it gets too sloppy.

    Yeah it would definitely be more of an "all-around" tire. I have had some sketchy moments on compact ice and snow with the KM2's that a tighter tread block would have had no problem on.
    The other problem is the 255 only comes in load range E. After seeing what a load range C or D can do aired down to 5 psi in several feet of snow, I'd have a hard time limiting myself like that.
