Head on out. I'll run it with you now.

mmm, hmmm. It's easier to stay in the lines when you're in the tent, not driving. :smack:

Wow....Did they cover an engine light with tape? Or is that a seatbelt light? If it's a seatbelt light it seems like putting the seatbelt on would be easier than getting tape... :notsure:

When we are out in the dirt all day, the seatbelt can be quite uncomfortable, plus we tend to get out if the trucks fairly often. When speeds are low (20-30mph) and we are on dirt it is pretty standard for my wife and I to take them off. If speeds pick up to a higher pace though, back on they go.

I'm assuming that is the case here, but would likely flash like crazy and have a beeping associated with it. The one in our '17 is pretty obnoxious.

I picked up an extra buckle for like $7 that I put in the passenger seat so the dog doesn't set the seatbelt alarm off. Use it on the driver side when I have to get in and out a bunch.

Disconnect the wiring to the driver's seat and boom, no light, no buzzer. First gen ftw.

This seems like a bad idea Ben. Even at slow speeds you can be ejected from the truck if you don't have the belt on.

I am sure glad that Zane and Monte and Jessica had their belts on during their rollover experiences.

Not denying that there is a danger but it is one we have accepted to live with. Much like driving these old trucks that lack as much of the safety components as a new one. I appreciate your concern though. I'm just stubborn.

And fwiw, if I remember the story correctly, Monte was not wearing his seat belt. He had the old Toyota " seatbelt jammed, can't buckle because I'm driving but I'm too lazy to stop to get it to release so fuck it, I'll be fine on this Dusty road".

And no I'm not using that example as a way to justify my behavior.

I assume he’s talking about Lower Naches, the only real technical part of that trail.

I haven't been on it this year yet. Have you?

In the past it has never been open before July 15. But I read somewhere that it was open early this year. That may have been about access from the east end tho and IIRC, the east end has always been open earlier that the west end.

Also, my friend Mark's dad (a jeeper) told him the trail was very torn up this year. I heard this in June. When I did it the last time (its the time Monte was referring to) the center section was very easy.

Any chance you still have any of those pics of my truck teetering off the edge of that bridge on Naches?
