Yeah, the Mojave trail is deep. Stay tuned for a future post, hahahaha :). I think the mud I had in the tcase was actually the result of many years of not changing the oil, as opposed to the Mojave. Well, the first time was for sure not the Mojave, since I hadn't been there!

I have in the rear (write-up here: Rear Diff Breather Mod - Why didn't I do this sooner?). Generally folks don't relocate the front or tcase, as it's much higher than the rear diff.

Sounds like it may also be time for a snorkel with these water crossings!

Nah Snorkels barely help with super deep stuff anyways. You'll kill way more stuff before the motor.

Snorkels main use is supposed to be to get cleaner air in dusty trail conditions.

Yeah, I'll probably stay away from the snorkel, and just try to be judicious about the water crossings.

Really, the more I do this, the more I dislike even the look of a snorkel on the truck - way back when I first started, I'm sure I would have wanted one. Actually, I even find myself missing the look of the rear tailgate now that I have the bumper back there. I mean, the bumper looks cool, but not as clean IMO and I probably could have survived just using the bed space.

    Yeah.
I'm usually in the back of the pack since I am newer to my area, so I thought a snorkel might be nice to cut down on dust -- but honestly, I don't know how much difference they actually make (not following as close probably helps about as much, and helps with visibility to boot), and it's not that hard to knock the dust out of the filter anyway. Unless you can't find a Wendy's.

Yeah, I don't doubt that it can help sometimes and some amount and I know you're quite bullish on yours! Just not the trade-off I want to make at this point on my truck.

    Yeah.
Yeah, but that new TRD Pro snorkel looks horrible, and the ARB one doesn't look a ton better. One looks like a weird elephant trunk, the other like some kind of tumor. And, they are expensive! I'm not to the point yet of being able to cut a hole in the fender anyway. At least not without shaking too much or crying.

Ever serviced (cleaned and rebuilt) your Hi-Lift? Me neither, until a couple months ago. Was easy to do and made it amazingly easier to operate. Will now be a regular maintenance item for me.

Do you have any tips for making my hi lift more crusty and harder to use. I find since I bought the Cadillac of HiLifts and I live in AZ it just won't rust and well that doesn't look good for my image as a wheeler

The xTreme or whatever they call it. I needed a hilift and that's what the local over priced camping retailer had.

It has started to rust a bit finally

Absolutely I can help with this. There are three options:
    1. I've heard that owning a Ridgeline (or, 3rd gen) makes a Hi-Lift much harder to use. Not because it's rusty; rather because you're the kind of person that owns said vehicle and a Hi-Lift.
    2. Move back to where you belong. Despite being on the wrong side of the Cascades, it's still wet and muddy more often.
    3. Less backspacing. This was my preferred methodology and it worked great. Note: this is not a good methodology if you ask the ladies.

I've only got a quarter inch more back spacing than you haha, my flares are keeping my from greatness haha. The right side of the cascades is quite literally the east... and because there's way less people
