Hi so I just bought a 2000 2.7l 3rz Tacoma pre runner and it’s my first Tacoma. I was looking for any advice as I’m new to the Toyota ownership as I’ve had a ford ranger and a s10 blazer before this. I’m looking for some advice on what maintenance I should do for my new Tacoma as it’s at 140k miles and has net had any complex maintenance just the oil and all other fluid changes.

Please any Advice is welcome as it’s a brand new brand and type of truck for me I’d just like to get everything done for it that I can to improve engine life until it goes out.

I had to replace my driveshaft U-Joints at around 130K in both of my 2nd gens. I'd take a look at that. Also, front wheel bearings around 130K too. Otherwise, oil and filters and carry on!

@2000taco man keep the driveshaft torqued and zerks lubed. The U joints and front wheel bearings last a lot longer on 1st gens than 2nd gens

Oh dang I just realized it was a 2000 - I saw 2.7 and assumed 2nd gen (My first truck was a 2.7). Sorry about that!

    2.7L 4 cyl.timing chain is a lifetime part.
3.4L 6 cyl. Timing belt requires replacement at around every 90k. mi.
    Applies to 1st gen Tacomas
