I just recently purchased a 2017 Tacoma TRD Off-Road and I am wanting to do some work to it as far as suspension, bumpers, wheels tires, etc. but I am new to the Yota gang and was wanting to get some ideas from some people who have built a nice Off-Roading Tacoma. Give me some ideas. I am so glad to be a part of the Yota gang.

Do suspension last after you’ve determined the weight that will be added otherwise you’ll have to redo it to properly accommodate the weight.

Welcome to TW. Check out the builds forum for inspiration (linked below).

This question gets asked pretty often and without knowing your taste it's difficult to suggest. The standard reply you will probably get are suspension, wheels/tires, armor, sliders etc. You will be able to pull a lot of inspiration from the build threads I'm sure

    Used Tacoma = $25,000

maintenance cost less than $100 oil changes

upkeep costs due to this stupid forum $300 + $500 + $1,000 + $3,000 + $50 + $2,500 + $6,500 (stupid magnuson super charger) + $$$$$ oh look more new accessories and t shirts. Oh you want Kings with icon control arms $$$$$$$

Toyota is supposed to be one of the best low cost vehicles to own. Not so much the case with a taco.

Read the owner's manual to know and understand how the 4wd system works, including Crawl Control. You will be amazed at how well these trucks are stock!

Second, buy recovery gear and carry it all the time. Tree saver straps, a few shackles (I like the soft versions), a long snatch aka kinetic strap, a proven strong shovel, etc. If/when someone shows up on the trail when you are stuck, at least you have some recovery gear to get out as the other driver may not.

I know right? If tacomas are so great why do I spend more on upgrades and gas every month than I do my car note?! Pffft whatever. I’m selling my taco and going back to a real off-roader! This is where it’s at boys

    Oh right

    ignore my previous advice

    KINGS
    LONG TRAVEL
    37s
    5.29 gears
    Air lockers
    Full steel armor

I await your return complaining about fuel economy and not being able to use 6th gear.

also be sure to check #overlanding on Instagram to find lots of unnecessary accessories you’ll never use but look cool
