    i hear ya....it was just an example.

    I've seen it many times in my few years in the car biz plus it also happened to me when I was buying my 2004 Tundra last summer. USAA was willing to give me 9% on financing for 48 months and the truck i was trading in (2012 Taco owed 26K on it) had financing at 2.41% for 72 months.

    So when all of these people think they can only afford a $17k truck (doesnt buy much in the land of trucks, especially Taco's) it's usually because they have a certain payment in mind.

    Totally different story if your paying with greenbacks.

    Just sold an 05 PRAC sport 2WD with 16K for $16,500. Sold it in a week and probably could have / should have got my 17K asking price. But the truck only cost $25,500 new 8 years ago. Drove it all the time just not very far. Looked almost new.

    Dealers offered me between 11 - 13,500. It was only a little bit of trouble to get the smog cert and list the ad in CL. Only other downsides was dealing with the hon-yaks that called. Only a few but ya got to take it with the territory when selling something.

    Dealers make hug profits on the used cars because they can finance buyers and buy at ultra low acquisition prices to make it convenient for new buyers.
