Tailgate lettering, exhaust tip, blackout emblems, raised driver's seat, center console and glove box organizer, new shift knob, led interior lights
    Hello everyone,
I've had my 2019 for about a month now. I've raised the driver's seat with Unistrut shims, put in LED interior lights, black letters on tailgate and badging, and put on a black exhaust tip. Now I'm wanting to add some step bars. I think I've narrowed it down to either the TAC 4" straight oval or the Ionic 4" straight oval. I don't want to spend a ton of money, but I do have some heavier friends that will be riding with me, occasionally. I like the looks of the steps, but, because I'm only 5'4" the step is in the wrong place when I try to get out. (I tested it at a dealer before I bought mine). Does anyone have a preference between TAC and Ionic?

    I appreciate any input,
    SlyReader

Welcome to the forum. I do not have any experience with those step bars you mentioned. You mentioned you do not like the factory bars with the steps, but have you checked other manufacturers? N-Fab (for example) makes a decent looking option.

Step bars are worthless, they get ripped off when wheeling. If anyone needs a step to get into my truck, they’re not riding in it.

Ok just read it agian, you’re 5’4”. Can you jump, like 18”?

Why would anyone waste their time spewing crap like this? Come on, man! It is people like you that make this site almost worthless.

Don’t worry about the haters they’re like yappy little dogs. Just ignore them and they’ll find somebody else to bark at.

I have sliders that have removable steps if the need arises. Having said that I’ve yet to take them off. If the trail is so bad that I’m in danger of ripping off a step, I probably chose the wrong path.

At any rate, my truck is lifted so my wife loves having the step available. I didn't have one on my Tundra and she hated getting in and out of it. She doesn’t mind at all now with the taco and uses the step all the time. I never bother. So for all you vertically challenged folk they are a nice addition and as I said you can even find some that are removable if that’s a concern.

I went Go Rhino D6. At about $400, they are pretty reasonable.

I'm going to guess you have the worthless step bars. How much money did you waste?

That’s a matter of intended use. Even the guys that have sliders, probably 90% are never in a situation to use them. Step sides are a much larger industry then slider industry. Both are in high demand so they can’t be completely worthless.

Yes they are. I wouldn’t have one, doesn’t mean they are worthless. Some people actually like them.

A bunch of chop knifes are pretty needless to me, but you feel a need to carry them. More power to you for it, obviously they are not worthless for your needs.

Thanks for all the input. It's good to hear ALL the opinions. I've learned a lot on this site. Probably the most significant is that no two tacos are alike. Everybody personalizes them in their own way. I like that. Thanks for the warm welcome.
