For whatever reason, Pyrite is an elusive color.
When I was first looking in the greater Denver area, 4 Toyota dealerships never had them, only Pyrite Tundras. Salesmen would always ask the same thing, why not another color? I was stuck on Pyrite so I waited months and ultimately ordered one from a dealership less than an hour away from me (Stapp Toyota). Everything was done over the phone/email. It was the best experience ever from all the Toyotas I have ever purchased. It took nearly a month, but was so worth it.
Great price (beat everyone in Denver area) and awesome customer service.
After my '12 was in an accident, I purchased a '13 (same color) via phone/emails through same outstanding dealership.
It was delivered to me, paperwork completed at Starbucks.
    Awesome experience.
I have seen only a handful of Pyrite Tacomas - so glad I didn't settle for a different color.
Definitely wait to get what YOU want.

Bought my 4x4 access cab, premium nav package, SR5 for $300 under factory invoice through Costco. Mine had to be ordered from the factory. Other than the wait, I have been very happy with the Costco package. They negotiate the deal with the dealership, so the deals can be slightly different from shop to shop. But overall, a good deal without the haggle.

on the 2013s the access cab was only $1k less. I think they build almost 10x doubles. If you buy a double you might have more room to negotiate. In Texas access cabs are very rare.

    thanks again all:

I did talk to a guy in the bay who had one today… Not sure how the picking one up in the city would be (i.e. not terribly convenient) but hey. The LOcal dealership are still being super douches. Telling me how ALL tacomas are just SOOO RARE! So tired of their garbage.

Zac- So are you driving around with Oregon plates for a while or what? I heard there is one in Or and I know they have no sales tax, but I wonder if you have to pay tax once you register in your state with correct plates??

Got my Pyrite Mica 2010 just after Cash for Clunkers and almost no one had anything in stock. The few that did in the NE wouldn't budge on price. Found one in MD and saved thousands and it only cost me about $150 for a one-way ticket from NY. Can't go wrong with the color. Good luck!

Toyota of Berkley is in Berkley, not in The City so it shouldn't really be an issue at all. No the dealer gives you a three week temporary license plate form you tape in your rear window. and YES you have to pay tax on a vehicle when you register it in CA if you get it in OR. Technically if you had a direct relative in OR they could buy it and give it to you for $0 then I think you ouldn't have to pay tax, but this sounds a but shady to me...Uncle Sam always wants those taxes

Well I just put a deposit on one for 500 over invoice, seems like a good buy. If anyones in San Bruno the Bay Area, unless they pull some shit on me, I have to give Adam there at Melody Toyota props, fyi.

I have a emailed quote of the price out the door (1700 less then the local guys) and gave a 1000 deposit, so I should be good.

Moral of the story, don't be impulsive!

    Thanks everyone!

TTL wasnt the language used but 'out the door' was, which is the same thing of course. It was 34355. Of course I have only had emailed quotes and given a dep but the only check Im bringing or theyre getting is for that amount, minus the deposit. I dont expect them to have a different price.

That price isn't written in stone. I'm sure you can get them to lower by $500 more. No need to pay them $500 over invoice. At invoice, they still make money.

sounds like you're in the right neighborhood price-wise and if you're getting what you want the deal is good.

+1 about not being impulsive and waiting to get what you want. every vehicle purchase builds experience and experience says to project a no-bullshit attitude to the sharks. once the dealer sees you're not there to mess around they will be more likely to shoot straight. of course, if they see you waiver you're going to get a ration of crap all day long.

    now...pics!

    To the OP:

I was having the same problem locating Spruce Mica in what I wanted. Found one dealership who had one "on the way," but their price is not spectacular. DCLB Sport, JBL premium with nav, their MSRP was $35500, and their "non-negotiable" internet price is $34551. Not thrilled. But it is so hard to really walk out when the time comes to negotiate. They have the only one in the right color and options, and I know they know that. I checked true car, and they are right on. I also got quotes from other dealers on cost to order, and their "lowest" prices are about $33900. So, I think I am going to try to negotiate, but I may just have to pay a little extra to get what I want.

Are you happy with what you got?

Since you're in SoCal, try Cabe Toyota and speak with Dan Dundridge about getting an order out for you.
