I was looking to buy a 4runner and found one near me. Below is what the listing says. What are some common problems these have. It says that one of the cylinders has low compression. I dont know what that means and what problems it could lead to. He is asking for 1,994. What could be possible problems and the cost to fix them. What should I offer?

    1994 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Sport Utility 4D
"192k Miles Purchased from a childhood friend who maintained his vehicles meticulously Classic, Cool, Punctual, and Reliable Most all SR5's are Fuel injected Inline 6's as is this one. one of the cylinders has low compression apparently but you can hardly tell unless you're stomping on it off the line. City and Interstate are no issue at all. 4WD Hi-Lo checks out just fine just took it out about a week ago."

Low compression is a problem either needs a rebuild or new engine. Make sure to check for rust as well. Not sure of any other problems these years have. Good luck!

If it’s a 3.0 stay away from it.

I would stay faaaaaar away from vehicle like that. The guy admits to having a serious problem, but sugars it up with a bunch of meaningless nonsense. Good for parts or be ready for a complete rebuild

Look for a 4cyl 2nd gen or the 3.4 3rd gen if your going for that vintage. I would pass on that one.
