That’s what I was a little worried about after further research. I’m hoping I got a good one. Not sure if it would’ve happened already? It does have 3M film all over the place. Like, literally done everywhere; door skins, half the hood, and problem areas that you mentioned. Maybe it was preventative measures or maybe it’s holding the paint on! Who knows? I can’t believe they’re not standing behind it, odd seeing as they acknowledged it on other models.

Here’s my old rig with its new frame and all. The buyer was really happy.

I’m sure it’s already been stated but school yourself throughly on the frame warranty issues. There’s a VIN check on the Toyota Website that can also help.

check out the 1st page of this thread. There’s a video on the SAIS pump or whatever it’s called. The factory filter breaks apart apparently and causes all sorts of problems with the air pump and emissions stuff. Mine looks fine, but I’ll probably still replace it.

    One year in update.

Just thought I'd update the thread.

I've been happy with my purchase and haven't had any issues with it whatsoever. It just turned over 194k. I serviced the transmission, added a Scan Guage2, installed a Uni-filter, changed plugs and all the fluids, added mud flaps, Fluid Filmed the frame, installed rear shocks, and hung some Michelins on it. I told myself I was going to leave it stock and not mess with it, well, I'm really itching for a suspension and wheel upgrade. Anyways, I really like the amenities the truck offers over my 2004, especially the power of the 4.0 vs the 3.4. That's it! Just wanted to follow up with my purchase.

Glad it’s worked out for you. Those 4.0 engines are bulletproof.
