This one looks pretty good. Sorry it’s a 2nd gen. I asked and they said the timing belt and water pump haven’t been done yet. Is $12k too steep for its mileage and lack of timing/water pump?

    Too few to list.
I believe there's a private dealership in San Diego and also one in LA that specializes in Toyota's like the 4runner and 1st Gen Tacoma's. Search cars.com.

You gotta be quick with it, they go fast. I downloaded the craigslist app and added all the cities within a 500 mile radius.

I think I’ve got the 2nd Gen down to $10,000. $10k with 156k miles? Pull the trigger?

You have been searching for a long time now, so just ask yourself

    Is this what you want?

If a 1st gen pops up tomorrow with the mileage and the price you want? You guna feel like kicking yourself?

    Weigh your pros and cons

    Have beer

Look at the crap that goes on in the 2nd gen forum.... jk but that 3rd gen though that’s scary

Go with your gut, you make the call it’s your truck.

I’ll sell you my truck for 15k

Really though it shouldn’t be that hard to find one that meets that’s criteria. Here in Oregon they are expensive for what they are but it’s still easy enough to find a clean, under 170k manual 4x4 TRD for somewhere in the 10-13k range

Probably would regret it. Just beginning to get exhausted from searching. I feel like I find a good deal here and there, I just don’t act quickly enough.
So when a semi-ok deal comes along I now feel like I have to grab it.

I felt the same way before I bought mine and I wasn’t looking nearly as long. Had a looked at and driven several other trucks that would have been better deals then mine and they got sold out from under me. Buying my truck was kind of a “good enough, I’m over it” and I don’t regret it. Wasn’t an amazing deal but wasn’t bad.

Basically part of it to me is understanding that any truck you buy that’s this old is going to be a compromise, and it will have issues and need time and money.

Not very often do people buy a Tacoma 4x4 to sit in the garage or driveway .

Not everyone treats them well some just gas and go Quicky Mart for oil changes when they remember .

Some wash and wax every week and never open the hood .

I guess my main point is there will always be areas neglected might be just clueless .
