Advice on front lift

    Can you guys give me some advice? I want to lift my taco up just a tad and maintain a level appearance. I don't want to spend a fortune, or creat a job I cannot do in my garage. I found these spacers on Amazon but not sure if these are what I need.

    2011 taco, trd 4X4 towing package, access cab, 6 ft bed, stock so far.

    Three inch is too much for a level. Try one inch in front. Most people do 2 inch spacer in front and 1 inch block in rear.

    You might want to look into 3rd Gen coilover take offs. They usually yield about an inch or so of lift and greatly improve the ride. They run about $150-$200 for the pair. An alignment will be required.

    This what we are planning for the incoming 2011 Taco 4x4 project. One local guy recommends it as well. We'll start working on the Tacoma after we installed the set of tires from 4Wheelonline onto the Jeep and clear the garage.

    If you are budgeting, I wouldn’t go 3”.
    That’s a lot of lift to try to get a “decent” alignment.
    @3” you might need UCA to get an acceptable alignment.

    I'd recommend some takeoff shocks and coils from a 3rd Gen or bilstein 5100s.

    You truck is on 10 year old shocks that are likely nearing the end of their useful life so you'll be spending more than $50 in the not to distant future to replace them anyway.

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
    You need to measure from the center of hub in the front up to the fender and then measure your rear wheel center of hub up to Fender, then you will know how much of a lift you need.

    Keep in mind that a 1" spacer up front will yield approximately 2" of lift. IF you go any higher than that, you might run into alignment issues and find out your alignment hardware (LCA bolts/sleeves) are seized.
    Usually, a front lift leads to other unexpected expenses. Just read up on it.

    why don't you get a taller spring and better shock

    the factory shocks were bad when new and so is probably an oem 3rd gen

    They are fine for what most Tacomas do...my point is the OE shock and spring off the 3rd Gen is going to be a better choice than a spacer and I can't think of a situation where a newer OE shock isn't going to be a better option than his 10 year old shock with a spacer. He's on a budget and there isn't a better option that I'm aware of other than 3rd Gen shock/coil or the 5100.

    So I think your saying that a new front shock set, 5100 or 3rd gen, will give a lift to the front as well as provide a smoother/better ride...?

    Keep in mind that if you opt for the 5100's and move your existing coils to them, you're still on 10 year old coils. Although this is subjective, the higher you set the coils on the 5100's the more ride quality will degrade. With the 3rd Gen coilovers, both shock & coil are relatively new and give you about an inch of lift which should get you very close to level, be cheaper and be doable in a home garage.
