Advice on getting dead bugs out of guage cluster

I don’t know how bugs got into my gauges but they did and they’re dead. Any advice on how to get them out without taking apart my entire dashboard?

 

Remove the cluster and pull the plastic cover off. Change to LED bulbs while you have it out.

 

I would just name them and leave them in there, makes your truck unique lol

 

Pull out the cluster and push all the black tabs on the perimeter of the cluster inwards and forward. There’s about 10 holding the black trim and lens to the cluster board.

 

Put in a lizard.

 

Yeah that will eat all the bugs

 

Then i’ll have to put a bird or snake in there to eat the lizard

 

Then who will eat the bird or the snake?

 

If it’s a bird I can add a bigger snake or if its a snake I can a bigger bird

 

Then hopefully the cat will be smart enough to leave

The last thing this truck still has on it is a warranty

 

Well, I tried...

 

I had some bugs in mine, I just tipped it around until they fell to the backside of the cluster out of sight. The clear plastic face snaps on but is notorious for breaking when messed with.

 

I took the face off and put it back on more times than I can imagine when I did my custom 4WD indicator lights and I never had it break. Your mileage may vary I guess.

 

Just cleaned the bugs and dust out of mine. Is the clear plastic+Black shroud available as an OEM part? My plastic is kind of scratched up.

Not a bad price as OEM parts go. Wish I bought that before I reassembled everything!
OP- taking the dash apart is really easy, I would just go ahead and do it!

 

Going to need to do this when I set aside time to swap out the LEDs. Need to get rid of the 16 year decomposing botfly...

 

Insects dont decomposing when kept like that lol. Ever seen how they store them in museums
