Before you :bananadead: I've exhaustively read post after post on sliders. I want the cheapest WITH SHIPPING fully bolt on slider with a slight angle up on them. Everyone says the ones on their truck are the best; that's fantastic, but I want the cheapest. Who has them? Until my truck is paid off in a few years she will not see off road, I have other toys and friends for that. I already have one parking lot ding and that's enough for me. Avid is my current choice, is there any cheaper? Thanks gents and ladies.

    Getting there...
x2 on the local fabrication shops. The guys who installed my lift also do metal fab work and said that he could build me a set like the trail gear ones, coat/bedline them, and weld them on for about $300 IIRC.

Definitely agree with finding someone local, thankfully I am local to avid so he was able to weld them on for me and i saved a lot on shipping. A lot of cost involved in shipping is packaging and protecting them so you would save on that too. Are you looking for sliders that bolt to the frame or "sliders" that bolt to the factory running board mounts like the avid ones do? If there is any future plans for offroading when your truck is paid off I would definitely recommend having something going to the frame. Bolt on or weld on to the frame is its own argument though.

My wife and I are planning on building a CJ5 Jeeper for mountain play so my Taco will not be doing anything except getting us to camping spots, and field work around home so the Avid are now what I am leaning towards that mount to running board mounts in case I want to take them off and sell, etc.

Who has the best deal on the AVIDs? Any TW discounts?

I believe avid is the only seller of his products. The best place to ask about discounts would be to call him or ask on his vendor forum on here.

If I'm reading it right you won't need any sliders for a while... Why not just wait until you do? Save some weight, you can look around and if a set suddenly goes on sale for really cheap you can snatch them up. Just an idea.

They are mostly for parking lot protection and I like the look way better than nerf bars or running boards. Im just 40, not quite old yet!

I went with the Avid step/slider because I didn't want to drill my frame yet. Famous Fabrication used to make a fully bolt-on, no-drill slider, but he went into retirement...got a real job. I asked him what it would take to get him out of retirement and he never gave me an answer. I might have been willing to pay up.

Def like SOS stuff and would love to have something from a member but his bolt ons are $385 not including shipping. The AVIDs with TW 10% off are $297 plus shipping. They are the winners so far.

righhhhht. Im married to a payroll manager/accountant. That wouldn't fly at all, thus the reason for our Jeep toy build soon. Plus this is my daily driver/workhorse so I need her to stay in working shape for say 400K miles !
