For maintenance stuff, just check out one of the many threads lurking around that have the factory maintenance schedules. Look at your mileage and stick to that. plugs wires of course, but also things like the MAF, IAC valve, throttle body clean...

If you tow things or go off-road, a trans cooler is definitely a good investment. They only cost like $50-$60 and are pretty easy to install DIY.

Tundra brakes is a very popular upgrade, however generally not necessary unless you have big tires (33" or bigger). I'd say you probably just need some better pads/rotors.

There are tons of more modern stereos that fit in the single/double DIN pockets of our trucks. I've gotten plenty of stuff form Crutchfield over the years. I'd head over to the Audio section of the forum, and look around and see what people are doing. As for a backup camera, I highly suggest NOT getting one of those license plate cameras. Ever notice how now one puts a factory camera that low? There's a reason... There are handle mounts that can work (similar to the newer factory Tacomas), or you can custom fabricate a mount that mounts to your tailgate.

Dealer cost -- IF you can find one because most say it's a discontinued part -- is $650 or higher + tax, etc.

I'm asking $600 ... but I'm kinda thinking of keeping it for the next time some idiot tags me from behind.

Honestly, 50 posts is really easy to get to. Just post a build thread, or talk about what your plans for your truck are. What kind of adventures are you wanting to go on? Read through the various sub forums (off-road/recovery, audio, wheels/tires, detailing, etc...) and contribute to the community with your unique experiences and likes/dislikes.

Just be careful, as the forum does has rules about posting for sale stuff outside the buy/sell/trade forums.

The reason that rule exists is because this is primarily an owner/enthusiast community, not a for sale website. The BST section is really more of an after thought to give community members a place to sell the junk they took off their trucks during their build, or because they have extra parts laying around.

CS_AR: Thanks very much for this detailed info! I think you are right-on and since I don't live in the Rockies (any more), nor do I tow much of anything, I just need to thrown on some new pads with more initial bite (at the expense of faster wear and brake dust -- no big deal). Probably new OE rotors too, unless there is a better suggestion -- maybe drilled or slotted, I dunno. I will have the drums turned too. Thanks again.

At your mileage, I would just get your original rotors freshened up and put on some new (low dust) high performance pads, change fluid, and adjust the rear. I get rotors and drums turned at O'Reilly auto supply. The one in my area does a good job.

It doesn't cost a lot of money to have exceptionally good brakes. Our trucks have very capable 4 piston calipers. Just match them up with some modern high-performance pads.
Now if you just want to spend some money on something nice (for your significant other), there is always https://www.tiffany.com/. :spending: ;)

There is a link in my signature to the Rock Auto code for a 5% discount.
