^^This is sage advice. I have done the exact same thing with my 2010 which I paid cash for when I purchased new. I make a "car payment" to myself every month and have not used that money for anything else nor do I consider it part of my savings, I just let it grow. I'd love to be able to pay cash for a TRD Pro when the time comes and I am well on track to do that.

I am looking for advice on whether to sell my 2011 Tacoma quad cab this coming spring. I love my truck and have had no major issues with it, runs great and very reliable. Only repairs I have made in the last 4 years are a front brake job, I have not had the to do anything with rear brakes yet. I will have about 175,000 miles on it this next spring and am concerned if I keep it I might end up with some more expensive repairs in the next 2 years. What major repairs would I expect to have on it between 175,000 and 250,000 miles? Any specific repairs others have had for a Tacoma of similar age and mileage? Concerned about engine, transmission, brakes, exhaust, drivetrain, 4 wheel drive to name a few. Any help or suggestions are appreciated!

1st things first you need to do some PM to see what condition the fluids are in. The only one I’d really be concerned about is the transmission. For $35 you can do that yourself. The other service I’d do I’d change the spark plugs. Be sure to check the plugs for wetness and oil. If both of these check out and you like the truck drive it.

My goal is to see how long I can get mine to last. Who knows maybe one day they will give me one!
