Hello, everybody! I’ve been a longtime lurker. I bought my TRD Off-Road back in December 2017 and currently have 13k trouble-free miles on the meter. It has been a fantastic vehicle and I have zero serious complaints. It even shifts fine and has good power when I use the skinny pedal. These things are animals in 4wd.

I’ve waited long enough & I’m now ready to lift it. I’ve been reading the many posts on this site and I’ve narrowed down my choices to the following setup based on my budget and the amount/type of off-roading & minimal towing/hauling I do.

I was hoping you could share some advice on this setup and help me choose a shock between the 5100’s or OME shocks. I tend to like a softer ride.

    887 OME coils
Bilstein 5100 or OME90021 Soft Ride??
Single AAL or Headstrong 3 AAL??
    ECGS Bushing
    16” SCS Ray 10s Gunmetal
    265 75 16 DuraTracs Load Range C

Not planning on any UCA’s at the moment unless they are an absolute necessity. I will be contacting Marie at Headstrong soon, but wanted a little more information before I do. I hope I at least sound like I’ve done some homework on my own before asking for help. Thank you!

Look at the 6112/5160, instead of 5100's. If you plan on going higher than 2" look into adding upper control arms.

I love the way the OME shocks ride, I find they are the softest ride of the big aftermarket lift brands, but they can be quite pricey depending on where you source it.

I would do a rear 1" block if you want a soft ride, add a leaf can make the truck really bouncy, they are intended for load, lift is a byproduct. 1" blocks are perfectly fine, and with a good shock like the 5100 or OME rears it will ride smooth.

Thank you! If the OME shocks offer a softer ride, then I’ll definitely be going that route and maybe do a 1-1.5” block in the rear to maintain a more factory-like ride.

Ok. If the OME shocks provide a softer ride (which I like) and a small 1.5” rear block is fine and will maintain a factory-like ride, how does this setup look???

    • 887 OME coils
    • OME90021 Nitrocharger Soft Ride (Front)
    • OME60091 Nitrocharger Sport (Rear)
    • 1.5” MaxTrac Rear Lift Block
    • ECGS Bushing
    • 16” SCS Ray 10s Gunmetal
    • 265 75 16 DuraTracs Load Range C

Also, I’m hoping to keep my factory mudguards. I live down a mile long dirt/stone lane and my paint will take a beating without them.

So, with the above mentioned setup, will I be able to keep the guards without rubbing? The Ray 10s have a 4” backspace and -12mm offset.
