Hey all.. So, my tires on my 08 have given up the ghost (and darn near took my wife with it). I am shopping with immediate need of tires, so am looking locally. At this point, i am between two sets.. The ubiquidous BFG AT, or the Wrangler Duratrac:

I had the BFGs on my last Taco, and i loved them. I see that the BFGs are still highly recommended, but i see lots of praise for the Duratracs too.
    For my driving:
    - Lots of city (mix of highway and surface streets).
    - Decent amount of rough/icy/snoy roads (The family enjoys winter sports, so being able to make it to ski areas, tubing spots, etc).

Really, i want something that i know will not fail me when i need it most. I do like the aggressive look, but i dont think either will disappoint there. Any input is welcome (again, i know online can be a bit cheaper, but i am stuck without a truck in the time being. Locallity is a priority).

I run the BFG at kos in 265/70/17. They are pretty good and are backed up by lots of user feedback. My main complaint is that they are heavy. For load range C they are 48 pounds. Lot's of guys are switching to duratracs or in AZ many are going to Toyo AATII's. I'm going to be switching to the Toyos next time around. If I stick with the same size, the tires are only 41 pounds  and If I choose to move up to 285/70/17 with a lift they will be 48 pounds each.

BUUUTTT that BFGoodies do look sick

EDIT: also If you were wondering, the DuraTrac in 265/70/17 is 44 pounds

I would personally do the duratracs. I have owned a set and can say you won't find a better "overall" tire out there. Especially if you enjoy snowy/icy roads to the ski hill with the family. Superb winter tire....of course other than running a dedicated winter tire.

I'll put it this way...if I had a family filled vehicle heading to the hill on a crappy snowy morning, I'd want the duratracs. They are a great tire for everyday driving and the weekend worrier.
