    Toyota's are awesome
You have to loosen your ubolts and once there is a large enough gap to slip in the shim, your good.

I used a washer with my centering pin so it would stick up higher through the shims.......for better axel allignment. My pins came with the TSB AAL.....ordered form ToyTec.......great product

What the hell...I've had my lift on for 3 months and I remember thinking the same thing during the install but just went with it. My centering pins did not go through the shim and into the bracket in the axle. I've driven 5000mi like that.

Grr...I guess I'll be getting some 3/8" long bolts and nuts and doing this.

It might not be necessary, but there sure isn't alot holding the axel in alingment if you don't.

pardon my ignorance but I want to make sure that If I do this I do it correctly. So there are two U bolts holding the leaf pack and one pin in the center. Do I just loosen or remove any/all of these to install the shim? I'm not a mechanic so I am afraid of messing with the leaf pack, it looks and seems like it could be a disaster. Also will I require an alignment after this is done?

Loosen the Ubolts (or remove them) Fight with the shims to get the Alignment right.. bolt back up, no alignment needed. Pretty easy really, although with alcohol and darkness.. it can be tricky lining them up. :D

You will have to completly lower the axel away from the leaf springs. Then use several C-clamps to hold the leaf pack together while you remove the centering pin. Place one or two washers on the centering pin, and reasemble with shim in place. You have to make sure the washer will fit inside the shim.

Hmm, I didn't use washers? Oh Well, they lined up for me but more center pin would have been nice..

ok so I am disassemling the leaf pack in order install the shim or can I just loosen the u bolts? Is it completly necessary to remove the pin? As you can tell im a little weary of this mod but it seems like its my next step.

I did not have to loosed the Leaf, but I had the ToyTec centering pin.. maybe it's longer?

You could always pay a shop to install them for you correctly.

It's Easy Franky, just do it! Right Parts are key, and I have yet to go wrong with Toytec.

If you only want to install the shim you don't have to remove the pin. If you want to add a washer or two for better alingment you will need to remove the pin.....you will probably need new pins.

There is one thing that everyone is forgetting. When you out in a shim, it changes the angle of the springs. And the hole on the axle mount is just the right size for the pin on the leaf pack. So that being said, When you change the angle of that pin, it will no longer be able to enter the hole on the axle mount.

    Bolt ons here and there
i have some tuff country axle shims. they are 2* rather than 3* but the shim has a hole only big enough for the bolt to go through so that when you tighten the centering pin, the shim is tightened with the leaf pack and there is the rounded button thing that goes into the hole on the axle.. if you guys are interested, i got it at http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TFY-90012/...
