this is straight off of urd's website for the 3" exhaust (which i have)

"When URD designed this Cat-Back system we had our own supercharger system in mind as well as other forced induction systems. We were concerned that the large 3" diameter piping might be too much for normally aspirated combinations and might lose some low end power. We did some dyno tests and we were very pleased to see that there was no significant low end power penalty when installed on a normally aspirated engine. We were even more pleased to see the nice gains in the entire RPM range. So, for you normally aspirated folks .... this system works great."

With a 3 in system you should have a lower exhaust note.

Since areo mufflers make a low volicity pull on the exhaust, I think it work good with a 3" cat-back.

I just got my AT2525XL welded on at a shop. I had them keep the stock exhaust location. I'm not sure if I like it or not. It drones pretty bad around 1.5k rpm. Which is cruising speed for me most of the time. Will it get better with time?

The tone will change a little over some time. How much? I cannot say.

You could always add in a resonator down the road if it is still to much drone for you.

It will change tone... but the change is negligible honestly. If you don't like it now ill recommend a resonator.

I guess Ill have to get a resonator then. Or save up for a URD catback.

Get the resonator. Add it in right after the y-pipe to catback flange. You should be ble to fit a nice 18" long one in right there. Just make sure to double check you available room.

Adding it in at that location is the best place, and will make a huge difference in exhaust noise/rasp/drone.

Unless of course you really have you eyes set on the URD catback.

I was thinking of putting in two resonators, one on each side of the y-pipe before they meet, after the secondary CATs, purely for more sound reduction. What do you think of that set up?

Are most of you guys with the at2525xl's installing it at the stock muffler location? Just ordered mine and wondering how/if that affects the cabin drone...just wondering after sleeper8406's post

Check my build thread...too much to list.
I have mine installed at the stock location but I honestly can't tell if its that or the fact I have it dumped before the axle. I'm used to drone from the setup I had on my 03 and even so the AT drone is less than that. Like others have said a resonator should help.

AT2525xl is installed, nice tone @ idle but fair amount in cab noise accelerating @ 60kmh-68kmh(40mph) 1900rpm range. Doesn't seem to drone @ 1500rpm. update:: Now have drone @ 1300rpm after 400km's driving

I no longer have the drone. I didn't add a resonator though, I just chopped it right after the axle. I am quite pleased with the exhaust note now. I think the drone had a lot to do with the fact I have an automatic.

thanks for the update, can anyone chime in on any known issues performance or otherwise with chopping after the axle and not having exhaust extended @ stock location? total noob here but, I was under the impression more noise came from the exhaust pipe opening so chopping under the truck would cause more in cab sound...

Honestly, after I chopped mine the in cabin noise was reduced along with the drone. I think it was just how the pipe resonated at that rpm range. I changed the pipe so now it resonates differently. I could have gotten an additional resonator but I just didn't feel like spending money on something that may or may not have worked.

Ya could install it per instructions from the manufacture.

For maximum performance and fuel economy install the aeroturbine
with 12" of strait pipe in front and behind the muffler.

Their is a direction of flow to this muffler, everyone knows this right??

Considering buying one of these and I think they sound great!

But after reading a few posts from this thread, everyone is adding additional resonators to dull the drone. Is the sound an annoyance after a while or what? If your unpleased with it, what would you change to? I don't want a muffler that will restrict airflow like the flow masters but want a nice deep sound...

Do any of you guys run this Muffler and a Resonator on an otherwise Stock 4.0 with all 4 Cats and Tailpipes?I would like to run my exhaust this way but with 2 1/2" exhaust,1 muffler and Resonator Y Piped with dual tailpipes for looks.I think it would sound good this way without being Overly Obnoxious.I like some sound to my truck but I dont want it obnoxiously Loud and Droning on the highway.Anyone have any Videos of their exhaust this way please post them.I dont care if you have single or dual tailpipes im just curious of the sound of a stock 4.0, all 4 Converters in place,Aero muffler and Resonator WITH single or dual tailpipes.I think this may be the sound Im looking for on my Taco.
