So I found a used one for around $100. Just looking for some reviews/feedback from others who have installed this. Was it worth it?

I just purchased a 2000 PreRunner SR5 TRD and kinda got the mod itch.

I have an AFE intake on my Ford diesel and it's really well made. I imagine the Tacoma version should be as good.

Just today (not kidding) the AFE dry cone filter I ordered for my Tacoma TRD intake arrived. Looking forward to installing that in the near future to replace the oiled one.

    They make a nice product.

I wouldn't recommend buying intakes off of craigslist.. but it you want to do a mod do what i did. Do the deck plate mod on your stock air box and put in a drop in AFE filter. Cheaper and better HP gains.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll have to do a search for your air box mod.

I got the afe intake exactly just like that. I'm Pleased with mine.

just a heads up. Don't expect a lot of gain from the intake.

on these forums everyone is going to suggest the deck plate mod over any intake. It gives better gains and even gives a little roar.

I've had my AFE intake for almost 2 years and it is a very well made product. Yes you can do the deckplate mod and get same or more gains but that's not the only reason to buy an intake kit. To me it improves the whole look underhood and the sound is awesome you can really hear the engine inhaling air.

I dont see why not if you can find one with the same size neck.
    http://afepower.com/shop/application_searchnew.php?brandID=61&truck&

I'd look at the Takeda Intake Replacement Filters since they seem to step up in 1/2" increments and are the Dry Pro S series (reusable, but dont have to oil). Probably the TF-9003D, or TF-9004D, but you'll have to measure your existing to be sure.

i forgot the part number, but you can get a generic AFE with the 3" OD flange and it will slide right on...

aFe has the dry weave and the standard oiled filters too...

i was actually selling an aFe oiled filter brand new in box for $30 shipped... i just need to find it in the garage...
