AFE Catted downpipes

Ha! I just stumbled on these as well. I waited for 6 months for ovt dump tubes before my order got cancelled.

Definitely interested to hear some feedback. I also saw the afe catted y pipe that looks nice except for the fact it looks like it still hangs below the frame crossmember

 

I love my aFe exhaust, but i hope their header coatings are way better than the material my catback is made out of. They have replaced 3 tips for me under warranty because they keep rotting out. The muffler is about due to be replaced after 6 years and 50k miles

their warranties are great, service is good. I’d buy again...just dont plan on them lasting a long time

 

I just ordered a set and the catted y pipe to go with it. Here goes nothing...... leap of faith I guess...

Geez Louise those are not cheap. My OVTune pipes were $600 initially, then when he decided not to sell them anymore he let the rest go for around $400.

One thing to consider about these is that they may very well throw a code and you'll be driving with a CEL. The OVTune pipes both catted and catless (I have the catless) both throw codes without a specific tweak to the tune.

Very important to check with AFE about this before purchase.

 

We are still doing our catted ones, just not catless anymore. We are just out of stock until november

How restrictive are the stock downpipes? based on the dyno i would have guessed you would see more improvement on the top end vs bottom for this type of mod.

 

AFE is out of stock until 11/6/20 per their latest update.

 

2 hp what a waste of $400

 

If you're planning on throwing boost at the motor at any point i'd steer clear of these. There are a few boosted 2nd gen guys that had their AFE cats fail not long after install. Not sure how difficult installing these is but headers on the gen 2 is a pain so that's something to consider

 

So they dyno'd the aftermarket extractors first and then two days later put the stock ones back on to dyno them? Interesting..

 

Does anyone even look at the graph or just the peak #?

 

Can't say I would ever expect a BOOST in power or torque from a bolt on part, but having an extra 22ft-lbs at 2890rpm is purty nice.

I can tell you my @OVTune dump tubes were worth every penny. And if they’re under the $1400 of these thing I’d go that route allllll day if the week. Mat’s products are A+.
