AFE CAI keeps throwing check engine light. Second time now in two days. Checked and double checked all connections and sensors. Everything is secure so why does this keep giving me check engine lights? My buddy mentioned I may need to take truck to the dealer and have ECU programmed for the CAI!!
    ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Do I have to go to the dealer to get the code or will a place like advanced auto suffice?

Did you unplug the neg battery cable for a little while and then put it back on?

Yea unplugged the battery to clear the code and it runs fine. However it did it again yesterday. Just trying to figure out why this is happening. Has anybody else had issues after installing AFE Cold Air Intake or any intake for that matter?

So the dealer can do nothing to calibrate ECU for an aftermarket intake?

No one can help unless you pull the code.....

Check your vacuum hoses, MAF sensor plugs. Until we know more there's nothing we can really help with...

I installed mine about a month ago. No issues. I also have a 15'. Start over and go through your lines. If that doesn't do it, check the air pump extension. I didn't like the way it isn't weather proof so I just cut the tape on my stock harness, which freed up enough room to use the factory harness.

Either an air leak somewhere downstream of the MAF sensor (which can cause a lean condition), or the MAF sensor was dirty or damaged during the swap. Was the AFE CAI bought new? Are you using the two white plastic spacers on the MAF sensor with the O-ring nicely seated?

Iv heard of a few ppl on here just letting it stay on for a few days. After a few days the ecu gets the air fuel mixture back to normal and the light goes off. But I would check for vacume leak and disconnect battery one more time. Iv had multiple afe intakes and never a code thrown. On my fj and also on several of my tacomas.

Exactly, it may be unrelated and just a time coincidence, or something was not installed correctly.

Also it's always good to have your own code reader.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
The smog pump plug extension that comes with the intake only extends 2 wires if I remember correctly but the stock plug actually has 4 wires. Any chance that might cause issues for someone?

Could always go back to stock to confirm. It's a very well made cold air intake already.
