Looking into this for my truck... but for $400+ why not just get the TRD intake and not risk messing with your warranty?

    3 reasons:

    1) I got it for $350 from AutoAnything.... just use the chat, tell them you can get a OEM intake for less $ and you only really wanted to spend $350.

    2) The TRD PRO intake uses the same bottom housing for the intake box, uses a flat filter as opposed to a cone 360 shaped aFe filer (more air).

    3) Warranty issues... from a intake? I see what you did there... you were making a funny.

Are you saying the scoop and intake allow you to drive at lower RPMs or that you have a manual so you can do this? I think most of us can agree here the only reason we are looking at this intake is for possibly better MPGs. If it isn't better MPGs, just spend half the money on K&N... Look forward to hearing from you!

I do not have the scoop, but the truck does get around 1.5 mpg better. I have noticed it does breathe better below 2k rpm and I can shift around 2-2300rpm now. I do not know why the stock intake did not work below 2k on a steep grade guessing it was more restrictive, but the truck drives better to me than before. Also the manual has the 4.3 rear making the lower rpms useful, and the AFE intake makes it more useable by not being as restrictive.

NEXT QUESTION..which filter are you running? The dry S, Pro5R, or Pro Guard 7? Also, are you running a pre filter? Thanks again!

I am running Pro5R no pre filter. It has not given me any codes.

If the intake damages something else, warranty would not cover it.

It's impossible for the stock intake to be restrictive at low rpms but not restrictive at high rpms. ;) The difference you are seeing is probably due to the new location/spacing of the MAF sensor.

All of this is good knowledge. I have about 3k miles on the intake and enjoy it.

^That's if you buy "power package", which includes both the oiled and the dry filters. Rather redundant IMO. Street price for the intake with one filter and the scoop is about $500.

Don't believe those numbers. AFE also claimed +37hp on the Hellcats and it was totally debunked. Get the intake for sound and looks if you like but power no way.

Price confirmed. That is what I paid for the intake from autoanything and the scoop from aFe. Both shipped for free.

^Vs. $700 for sound if you get an aftermarket catback exhaust system?
Does that make me a tier-one full-automatic truck operator. :p

100% on a naturally aspirated engine. It's just noise to yall and some sweet butt dyno numbers. Save the $$ and get you some forced induction, then mods like this will be totally worth the cash.

Pricey but better than the TRD option IMO
