I'm looking at some intake options for my 17 taco. Below is a intake that looks interesting to me. If anyone has any experience with this brand or model please share any insight on this would help me out, thanks!

I have one and I really like it. I used to have a TRD CAI in my gen 2 that was awesome but I think this pairs well with the gen 3. Don't expect a performance increase advertised on the box but it gives it a nice sound. Especially around 3500 rpms gets really nice sound. I also have it paired with a borla catback exhaust. The little rubber plug the covers the hole for the optional ram air tube likes to pop out on its own. I found it floating around the engine bay a few times. It's kind of cheap soft rubber so I have it stuck in with electrical tape. Ghetto yes I know. You'll know if it pops out cause it gets really load.

I have it and love the sound. I got their model with the dry filter. There are some people here that say it's a waste of money but I'd do it all over again. As Matt said the rubber plug will pop out but since this picture I've added the front scoop.image.jpg

Looking at getting it with the scoop and the throttle body spacer just for the fun of it.

Thanks for the input man. I was looking into a borla but I'm not completely certain witch exhaust to go with, maybe magnaflow.
Did you notice any additional HP with the borla and the afe?

How does the sound compare with the scoop? Is it more similar to the AFE w/ plug, or AFE w/o plug?

OP, I have one as well and while I enjoy it, the plug does keep falling off. Supposedly, they redesigned the plug so that it works better. I spoke to their customer service and I was supposed to get one in the mail, but they never sent it I guess. It is loud without it, but it has been without it for 15k+ miles. It made the truck more fun for me to drive, placebo or not. :D

Expensive noise maker and can foul your mass air flow sensor if you use the wrong kind of filter.

Sounds louder with the scoop on but only when you jump on the throttle. My plug fell out and aFe sent me a replacement which I promptly installed with a bit of silicone to keep it in. Shortly after that I bought the scoop because I liked the idea of more fresh air. I totally agree that it it makes the truck more fun to drive, that alone is worth the cost but dispite what some people say, I did notice a performance improvement.

I have the AFE with dry filter and scoop. I have the Borla cat-back as well. I think it sounds great. I can't say there's any noticeable performance gain, but there's probably a little.....:notsure:

All Snake Oil and nothing but an overpriced noise maker. Truck already has a Cold Air Intake from the factory, you will gain nothing with this, NO MPG, NO HP, NO PERFORMANCE. Maybe if you had a Supercharger, and this topic has been beaten to death for years with the same outcome. NOISE NOISE NOISE.

That is not true! You can gain 10 horsepower at 9000 RPMs! This is worth hundreds of dollars!

Just kidding. If it feels good, do it man!

Just weld in a Magnaflow with the stock tubing diameters, and have it welded in. It will sound nice and keep your checkbook happy.

Well then let us not continue to beat this dead horse eh!
Although I probably would like the audible difference I know I would enjoy the performance more.
    Thanks for the input.

Not trying to troll. I bought my intake and exhaust mostly for sound, so I'm perfectly happy even without any performance gains. I'm probably going to regret posting this, but I'm curious. Those of you who say there is zero performance gain, is there actual data somewhere that proves it? I'm of the opinion it's probably true because I feel no noticeable gain, but haven't seen any real data. I know this topic has been beaten to death, but everything I've read so far is contradicting and/or just opinions with no credible evidence.

I have looked at the factory intake on mine. The top and bottom pieces of the air box do not seal along the side that's closets to the motor. Lets air in over the filter so it is filtered at least. Maybe mine is the only one from the factory with some kind of air box alignment issue, but it's not a cold air intake from the factory.

There are plenty of dyno tests done on aftermarket cai's and it's objectively clear that they can and do improve performance. Here are some easy to watch youtube videos showing this.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwNtjKT_1cA&t=420s

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weZrNmISjaE

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPWC_td-j0M

And there are plenty more tests online if you just did a quick google search. Pretty much all come to the same conclusion. They work.
