Anyone add just this filter to their stock intake and if so, what is your take since installation. Did you notice any diffrence in mpg's, throttle response, just sound or none at all. I know there are other intake upgrades that cost a lot with positive and negative reviews but I prefer a dry filter and go from there. Also considering adding the air accelerator as well that the TRD intake has. Tks

Noise maker is all it is. No HP Gains, No MPG Gains, No Throttle Response. Just noise, just keep the paper filter it comes with.

I was looking to save on it being reusable over the long term. Tks

Had the oiled version for the first 3k miles, before I got the whole intake... Didn't notice anything. And it doesn't make anymore noise than the stock filter (It's just a filter, in the stock housing no less, how's it going to make more noise).

This has been covered here over 100x..

They allow more dirt into the engine. Cold air intakes work, but you won't really feel any real gains and for the money it ain't worth it.

This has been covered ad nauseam.

It's a drop in filter dry filter that's re-usable, sounds like that's what you're looking for. Aftermarket drop in filters are good for the that - re-usable, no performance gains. Difference you'd want to look for is which filter actually filters better. Stay away from K&N because those are over oiled from the get go. I believe TRD makes a dry filter as well, which most on here would probably rather buy because it's "TRD". OEM would be the best option for filtering, but would cost more replacing over time. As for engine damage, I've never seen reports of anything ever happening due to an aftermarket air filter (except CAI's sucking in water).

I've been running an aFe dry filter since shortly after buying my truck. No performance gains and possibly a little louder, but I don't really pay attention to it.

Tks, what is the TRD dry filter part # because the ones I've seen were oiled. I don't expect much with a drop filter but just wanted something reusable.

The one the OP had in question. Dry filter for me.

There are TRD dry filters, but I wasn't sure if there was one for the Tacomas. From a quick search on my phone, I only found oiled too.

Try to find a tundra filter, I think they fit.
