Im not really looking for subjective data here as I found a lot of that through searching...

But can anyone point me in the direction of a well conducted test that compares the AFE Pro Drys filtration to that of the OEM Toyota paper filter?

Not 2 mins ago I installed my AFE S Dry filter. It's widely viewed as the best filter for the 2.7L tacos of new and old (not sure about the 4.0 or 3.5) but very few people (if any) have delivered on providing results. I personally have never seen data to show exactly how much better they are.

The only way to do this is put the truck on a dyno.... for an air filter heck take the air filter off and you may get MAYBE 2-3 hp way up at the top of the rpm band, if yer lucky.

I'd get the TRD filter since its a genuine Toyota part - won't void your warranty. I have one and I swear I get better performance verified on my butt dyno with a very slight increase in engine growl.

FYI, here is some subjective data that gives reason not to run an AFE Pro Dry: But again, looking for some test results.

Off the subject here and not trying to be rude, but more air is useless on stock engine just look at the tail pipe and look at the air filter box and intake tube. You can only move so much air

I had an AFE dry filter on my Tundra. No real performance gains other then a better intake sound. But it was a great filter. Better filtration then stock, reusable and no oil to screw around with. Just wash, dry and reinstall. Will probably pick one up for my Taco.

I know there's an independent test of the aem dry filter, it showed the aem filtering better for longer than any other. Don't know how that compares with the afe dry filter.
