i redid the exhaust a fourth time, removed the j pipe and changed the muffler to a Spintech 8000, and also reduced all pipes throughout to 2.25", down from the 3" & 2.5" diameters that were remaining. all that was the right move. tq & throttle are up significantly after all that, sound is cleaner as well. the j pipe never did anything when i had it on the Spintech 3000XL, but i just left it on. it's not at all needed with the Spintech 8000.

massively, and again going from the 3000XL to the 8000 Truck series. big Spintech fan here.

btw i have the 3000XL available for sale locally, or i can ship it if you want to try it. it's well used so i can go cheap. if you have cat deletes like with the Y pipe or similar, then i would plan on using one or two resonators with it.

@su.b.rat do you have any clips with the 3000 vs the 8000? I’ve got a borla pro xs and it only drones around 65 mph. Just seeing what other options are out there and how it sounds. I found a forum post from a guy with the spintech pro street 9000 and his sounds almost like a diesel.

sorry i don't have any clips at all.

with your issue the first thing i would try is to insert a Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonator (about $100) placed before the muffler. that should calm the drone or maybe even kill it. my system is all open flow, so it took two Vibrants for mine used in series before the muffler.

Borla has a cat back system. Borla is the absolute best, in my opinion!
