So I’m sitting on 33x12.50 Federal M/T and I kid you not, I’m getting 9 MPG. I was expecting to get a major decrease in gas mileage, but I wasn’t expecting 9. I live in New Orleans and go to college in Hammond, so I’m constantly driving around. I was thinking of adding a cold air intake and a bullydog tuner, but I’m just curious if this should get me up to 14 mpg or so if I download an eco tune with a cai?

Is that when the light comes on, or you're bone dry? If its the light, then it is closer to 12-13 or so.

When was the last time you serviced your engine and oil filter to the full extent? Is everything greased? How about your brakes are they dragging? Have you tried smaller or highway tires? MAF Sensor, PCValve? Fuel pressure and filter?

Those other things are snakeoil, it will cost you more money than what you get out of it.

Your odometer is off because of the bigger tires.

You should be multiplying your mileage by 1.07 to account for the odometer being off...

And I keep everything fully serviced I check up on anything needed to be cleaned up or replaced, I put a new oil filter in 2,000 miles ago. Had nitto street tires before I got the lift and miss but I wanted mud tires and these were most affordable at the time @Toyko Joe

Check all your maintenance stuff before you spend money on anything. All the filters and tuners won't do squat. Gears are spendy. I would say there is something not working quite right. I get 14-16 all the time. Lots of weight and 33's.

With the odometer being off, you’re probably getting around 11mpg. Still not great but better than 9. That doesn’t seem off for the additional size and weight of the tires. Not to mention if you’re doing a lot of stop and go type driving then you’re going to see some shittt mpg’s.

Sounds like you need to take it easy on the skinny pedal. I ease around town and only do 65 on the highway and manage 15-17 mpg depending on how much highway driving. My 37's weigh nearly 100 pounds just tires.

Try doing actual calculations. You'll at least have a more accurate number, but I'm guessing it will be a better number than your current MPT guesstimate.

And then factor in Odo error for your jumbo meats. Use the tire calculator for the % difference nominally, or use the tire websites for your old and new tires to get the precise delta.

You're getting better mpg than you think, although still not good.

That's an important maintenance item, but it's not a player in mpg.

And therein lies the root of the issue.

When you read up on something like hypermiling on the web, you won't find any magic, just applied physics, along with a lot of dependency on driver technique.
