I finally made the switch. I’m at the point in my life that I wanted more of tender foot luxury, comfort, will all amenities. The only way to do this and still have the ability to hit the trail, run the property line or deal with snow & ice without worry was no doubt the Tacoma.

Dealer had to order my 2017 Limited from the factory since all the options I wanted, mainly the TRD exhaust system, on that trim level wasn't readily available. Delivered to me on 12-2-16. Fantastic and WOW what the hell took me so long.

I’ve read allot of threads on TW, and I understand how 2nd Gens folks could express some disappointment with the new, but I hope they all know that this new Tacoma is still a best high quality truck in its class! So killing a few birds with one stone with my introduction to TW, “What have you done” and giviving my two cents on some of the bigger topics on TW about 3rd Gen.

    1. Engine/Trans and MPG: Took a 700 mile round trip from the hills of Kentucky to the mountains of West Virginia. Yea I noticed some shifting from the trans, but I actually read the manual and addressed the truck accordingly with things like ECT engagement or with some limiting of 6th gear when needed. I averaged 18.6 MPG on windy, hilly, mountainous interstate with my +75MPH driving. On the flip-side, when making a short 65 mile trip down straight, flat interstates doing the speed limit the MPG shot up to 22+. Obviously there was an issue since there is a TSB Rev1 for this but be thankful Toyota is jumping to resolve. An established member said it best “Don’t watch the little MPG bar and just drive man”

    2. Seat comfort: A bit of a letdown that a truck pushing $40,000 doesn’t have fully electronically adjustable seats. However, after a few positioning adjustments the seat is just fine. Just another first world issue.

    3. What have you done lately: Along with the factory TRD exhaust on a Limited, bought a Extang Trifecta tonneau cover and up-sized to new 265/65/18 Goodyear Wrangler AT Adventure shoes. Soon to come the install of AMP power-step running boards.
