Went to a local parts distributor, Keystone Automotive and they recommended I use they're in-house brand a TrailFX 2 1/4 front level kit. Well after install now the front of the truck sits about a inch higher than the rear. Any suggestions, I'm guessing ill have to put in a 1in block in the rear but hoping to see if anyone heard of this thanks

I don't know if it's possible but I'd see if they'll remove it. Get a refund on it and buy some Bilstein 5100s, have a shop install them. I have a 2nd gen but here's what mine looks like with them. No rear lift. These shocks are roughly $350 if you do both the front and back, but you can get just the fronts for about $200. They improve your ride quality and are a better quality alternative to a spacer lift.

Sorry to hear that. Best advice before spending ANY amount of money is read up on what you are trying to do. There is soooooo much here on suspension setups for 1st and 2nd gen Tacos that judging the lack of activity in the suspension forum these days, no one has the desire to repeat all the info. Research the stickies first, and maybe post a question you can't find an answer to and then pull the trigger. This will help save money and time.

Browse the venders too, they have sooooo much stuff and almost none of it is crap. 20+ years of Tacomas will separate the wheat from the chaff...

I actually didn't think there was much of a cross between 2nd gen and 3rd but I guess I dropped the ball on that one

Also look through our classifieds. Selling my 5100s for cheap locally but there are a ton of guys selling them for $100 or less for the fronts.

I have the TSB rear springs, not sure if it made a height difference or not, but I put the front at 1.75 inches or I believe the 3rd snap ring setting to level it. It sits about 0.5 inches lower in the front which is perfect to me.

Sorry to derail OPs thread further, but thanks for this info. I just ordered my 5100s and trying to figure out what will work for me. My truck is a bone-stock 2012 SR5 PreRunner. I don't want the front springs preloaded so much that it rides like a rock cart, but I do want a little bit of lift and a little more roll control. I'm actually currently planning to stick with the 245s with a more aggressive tread pattern, no need to go wider and heavier. What did you notice after the 5100s? How worn were your stock shocks, etc? Thanks so much.

The 5100s made my suspension a bit stiffer, but also felt more controlled and even more comfortable, since they seemed more stable. My stock shocks had 65,000 miles on them unless they were replaced before I bought the truck. I would say that if you are going to replace your tires at some point, you ought to get 265/75R16s, as there is a lot better selection of tires and the price difference is negligible. I doubt it would affect your mpg's much. My truck came stock with 265/70R16s as an SR5 4x4 and I upgraded to 285/70R16s. I had to cut some plastic for those though.
Edit: If you need more info feel free to PM me and I can help you out. I installed my 5100s myself if you need tips.

I put high-rate springs and Konis on my Miata and the ride was improved to me, so I'm fine with a stiffer suspension. I actually dig (for nerdy reasons that are not entirely apparent to me) the skinnier tires on the Taco. I think it's going to look rad with a little lift in the front end and the narrower tires, especially when I get something with a more aggressive tread pattern than the off-brand tires that are on there now.

Well after an alignment it sets level now. Apparently the blots were tightened too much on the lift without the weight of compression on them so they whole truck sat about an inch too high in the front but after adjustment shes level again.

Glad this got sorted out, OP!

LCA bolts (and possibly lower strut mount bolts) need to be tightened with the vehicle on the ground or the bushings can bind, causing the suspension to not compress as much as it should at static ride height.
