Hi all! I am really wanting to get rid of the limited grill that came on my Trail Edition. It's all silver and icky. I need some blackness in my life to match the rest of the truck. It can be metal or plastic I really don't care either way. I was about to pull the trigger on a pro grill with the raptor lights, but honestly it seems really overdone. I like the look, but I wouldn't mind going in a different direction.

The Empyre grill is at least different, but I'm still not sure if I want the raptor lights or not. Not really a fan of anything at 300 Industries either.

Why do all the non TSS grills all look so much better! lol

I would also love to support a small business owner/fabricator if you have worked with one that you like. Any leads for a grill would be greatly appreciated!

Well, you already know about us! Good luck man. Choosing a grille is tough since it's one of the most noticeable areas of your truck.

Actually I just noticed your metal grill without the raptor lights. You still might be in the running. I like the fact that you can get the back insert painted or powder coated to match the truck.

Just to let you know about my situation. I got the Rigid Industries Grill, but I was told it was incompatible with later model Tacomas with TSS. I really wanted the extra lightbar because my bumper lights were really low, and wanted more illumination at eye level.

I had a shop fabricate a custom mount and they calibrated it. Only time I ever got messages is when I took it offroad and it got dirty. Sooo I had the dealer disable TSS from the truck so its always off. No more messages

Here's a pic, it can be done

    @Mike402

Dealer would easily disable TSS if you ask them to? Any charge?

If TSS ever starts giving me messages(if/when i lift higher), I'd be perfectly fine having it disabled. I'm not paying 2-300 for them to calibrate TSS.

Well it was a production to say the least. I brought it in for the 10k mile service. Told the service rep it was a pain when I went off road and the sensor would get dirty, it would throw a message. It also happened when the truck was bone stock and got dirty or rained on. Convo progressed from there and I just asked them if it could be turned off via software. That got the service manager involved. Then the senior tech came out and said they can disable it, but if I ever wanted to turn it back on, have to purchase another sensor (which I have since verified on this forum). They charged me $150 and I had to sign a waiver. Wasn't crazy about the $150 charge, but whatever.

The part that pissed me off was on the service history they wrote this:

TRIM ELECTRICAL ~|~PER CUSTOMER REQUEST DISABLE PCS SENSOR, DUE TO EXTREME OFF ROADING. CUSTOMER HAS BEEN ADVISED THAT LIGHT WILL BE ON AT DASH. ~|~PER CUSTOMER CONCERN FOUND TSB-0026-20 FOR DISABLING PCS AND DRCC SYSTEM ADVISED CUSTOMER SENSOR WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED IF HE WANTS TO ENABLE AGAIN. CUSTOMER OK'D DISABLING. ~|~PERFORMED TSB-0026-20 WITH NEW CALIBRATION FOR DISABLING PCS AND DRCC PER CUSTOMER REQUEST.

That's obviously not going to bode well for me if I ever have a warranty claim, but they wouldn't change it.

Despite all that, much happier now not having to futz with it anymore.

What a hassle. I don't think I would want to go through with disabling it completely. It's strange they can't reactivate it without putting a new sensor in I wonder what the deal with that is.

Was your sensor bare or did you put a plate in front of it like they do with the pro grills?

No I put a plate and ordered tinted plexi glass to go over it. You still need it for other systems in the car, TSS is only one function it provides.

Yea I was thinking about getting a pro grill, but it seems overdone. Really hoping to get something a little more unique.

Also, side note as a fellow Trail Edition owner. Did you get a bed extender yet? I'm hoping to get one, but I feel like most of them won't work with the bed boxes. Although I'll admit I'm thinking of getting rid of them eventually lol

Actually, I removed the bed boxes and installed these yesterday.

Seems to be the direction most people are going. I have a feeling I will do the same sooner rather than later.
