I have an 07 trd on stock 17" rims and tires. Will after market 17" rims work regardless of width and offset? for instance will a 17x8, and a 17x9 wheel fit? wheather it has an offset of 25 or -12?
    Thanks guys

Offset does matter. They will not fit without the correct offset. Now, I say this from experience with other vehicles, not this one, so I don't know the proper offset numbers. However, I'm sure someone will be along with better info. Besides, you get a bump out it. :D

BTW, are you talking about the OEM tire fitting or do you mean the rim itself? Offset won't have a thing to do with whether the tire fits the rim but it WILL matter in regard to whether the rim fits the truck itself.

I also had the same idea...new rims but keep the stock tires..4Wheel did it and they fit...they recommended a 3" lift to the front to prevent the rubbing but I said "no". I wanted to keep the "slant" on the truck and I asked them to shave the fender instead. They shaved it cleanly without having to remove the mudflaps. They told me most aftermarket rims require this since most of them are wider than stock. Also, they said a 16x9 would have fitted.. Mines are 16's BTW
Heres the specs of the aftermarket ones that fit my 08 DC

You can put your stock tires on a 8-9" rim, both width rims fit the truck. You do have to get the correct offset and backspacing on the rim for it all to fit on your truck.

The #'s on mine are -12mm offset and 4.5" backspace with a 17x9 rim and 265/70/17 tires.

What rims are you looking to get? That usually helps answer these questions. Also take a peek over on the Wheels & Tires thread and try some searching or browsing for the rims you want and see who has them and if they fit. http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/wheels-tires/
