A few people have. Not a huge bang for your buck. I'd start by upgrading the front rotors and if it's still bad upgrade the trailer, do the rear drums last.

Koolstop cryo treated rotors up front with TRD ceramic brake pads. That seems to be the best setup for the $$$

    Rock Lobster, TacoManOne,
Thanks again for the good advice.
Knowing the front brakes do 70% of the stopping, it makes sense to upgrade the fronts rather than the rear.
My imperative is better downhill stopping power when I'm towing and I know that disc brakes perform better and fail less often.
It's not unreasonable, if unaffordable, to upgrade both front and rear, but I've only got 25,000 miles on this OEM set of brakes so it'll be a while

I needed something that extended out further to see around my 8' trailer. So I went with the TrailRidge tow mirrors.
They're okay. I probably wouldn't buy them again if a different option with the same features were available.

Very happy with my Spotter Mirrors.

Only complaint is that they have a unfinished edge where OEM has plastic wrapping around, which seems like it could be an easy point of failure to chip the glass.

Other than that they beat the Rav4 blind spot mirrors in looks and function, and are definitely better than just sticking on a parabolic mirror onto the stock glass.

Did that provide a noticeable amount of added visibility while towing? I can’t see it being the same size and just convexed

I tow a Jayco 224BH which is a dual axle 8' camper (about as big as I would go with the Tacoma). Its given me a lot more visibility than the factory mirrors, but I am still looking to get a backup camera system installed to better bridge the gaps.

I ultimately went with these because I think they give me a lot more confidence about what is around my camper while I am driving on the roads and although a significant amount of money, it is cheaper than the other high quality replacements. BSM functionality was a really cool bonus too, and they do sell a non-bsm version for cheaper if you do not have that function.

This is good info thank you.
I tow several thousand each summer and wanted a permanent solution.
My trailer sounds almost same size as yours.

22 foot sunset trail 186bh. Single axle.

I'm sure your aware but lots of good rear view options on Amazon. A few hundred bucks seems.to be going rate.
Some trailers are already wired for it, I'm guessing yours is too by the sounds of it.

Does anyone know if the mirrors have changed in the last couple of years?
    I see a few after-market mirrors like these: https://www.1aauto.com/2016-19-toyo...trail-ridge-tr00406/i/1amrp02075/1172314/2019

Folks seem to have succeeded with them on 2016-2019, but I haven't seen anyone putting these on the newer trucks. Has Toyota changed the stock mirror or mount, or should I feel okay about putting these on a 2022?

Looking for electrified tow mirrors for a 23 Tacoma that do not stick way way out and impede entry to carport. Like to upgrade to turn signals for safety.
Previously used clamp-ons (sandpaper needed to keep from slipping plastic-to-plastic clamp) and looking for a permanent solution. One clamp-on and one lens DOA on bumps and windstorms.
The OEM mirrors extend 12" from face of window.

Bought no-name #186480 from Topgear Autosport (WARNING TERRIBLE REP COMPANY) which are "TO FIT"... only they stick out 20.5" each side while retracted. Might as well strap on a stepladder sideways.
    Trying to return them....

Found another mirror at Boost Auto Parts (a real person on the phone. Yay) that purportedly sticks out 16"... not as bad.

I see OEM tow mirrors for Tundras but no Tacomas.
What have folks found that works, fits, and is not enormous?

I am in the same boat. But have not found anything yet. A company in Australia makes a fabulous one for the hilux so I contacted their US rep. Got a not anytime soon response. So now I am thinking swap to Hilux mirrors. Lol.

Interesting info, I am starting my hunt for an enclosed cargo trailer. The ones I’m looking at are 8.5x16 and I’m really worried I won’t be able to see around the trailer!
