I can tell you the older 4.7 v8 would clatter when cold until warmed up. That was normal for those engines. I take it your describing more of a diesel sound. Never heard it yet on the 3.5 v6.

Thanks. Hoping I don't hear it either as I'm pretty deadset on adding a Taco to the stable. :D

Maybe the auto locking hub is bad(if these trucks have them).

    Most engines are all aluminum.
They are inherently less quiet. It is probably nothing. A heavy knock that you actually feel and gets louder when there is no load on the engine would be a problem. The more you listen for things the less you enjoy.

sometimes a pebble or rock or chipmunk might get stuck in the tread of your tires.

I would check your forward cabs mount bolts. Mine loosened off and my truck made a weird knocking sound. Wouldn’t call it rhythmic on its own, but was rhythmic over pavement imperfections.

Sounds like a sewing machine? Sure, if that sewing machine had been at the bottom of the ocean for a hundred years, pulled up and put to work without even being wiped off.

Dafuq kind of garbage ass sewing machines do they use in Texas?
