As the title says this is my 1 week review of my 3rd gen. First off ive owned multiple trucks and have drove and rode multiple times in a 2nd gen Tacoma. This 3.5 runs way better than the 4.0. The trans is a little jumpy but is doing exactly what they intended. I do think they could benefit from a trans hold button but not a big deal. The engine is smooth as hell too. When the power is needed it is there for sure. I'm sure when the thing is all the way broke in it will be even better. Ive seen multiple people on here saying things like "turd gen" and all I can think about is how much better I think the 3rd gen is than the old and dated 2nd gen.

Now I'm not saying I don't like the 2nd gen because it was one of the reasons I love the Tacoma but it is not even close to the truck the 3rd is. This truck is dead silent in the cab at 70mph, even compared to my 2015 ram Laramie. Took my buddy who has a new Silverado for a ride and he couldn't believe how quiet the cab was. Got about 1000 miles on it so far and couldn't be happier. Cant wait to get a bike rack for this thing and head to the hills. If after reading this forum you are thinking about not getting a 3rd I think you should seriously reconsider. I absolutely love this thing! CHEERS my friends!

Glad to hear your enjoying the taco. 1000 miles in a week, man that's some driving.

He's had it a week. Give him time to notice the howling and have the transmission "learn".

    He'll come around

I've had my Taco for 4 days now and I agree with you about the quality of the ride and the quietness. I have been looking all through the threads on 3rd get Tacos and I believe that you are the first person that has mentioned how quiet the cab is while driving. I'm also impressed but cannot compare my 2nd gen Taco to this one very much because it was a 4 banger and had a manual tranny, (my 2017 is AT and a 6 cylinder). I liked the quality of the 2nd gen Taco but there is a huge difference in comfort level and quietness when comparing the two.

Yeah....tires can fuck it all up when it comes to a quiet ride. I have the Toyo Open Country tires and didn't need aggressive mudding tires so the less aggressive footprint that I have on mine makes it a very quiet ride and great for beach driving.
